Well Since GT4 is out now...

As I progress in the game I am noticing how much better it is.

EDIT: I finally tried the rally mode. All I can say is the way the crowd reacts while you are driving by I fantastic isn't it? Amazing. Im really glad they added that

Take the license tests you need to anyway and you get a car you can sell or drive. The driving tests are fun becuase you get to sample fast cars and tracks.

its sweet so far. Im itching to get a HD cable pack tho. GT4 needs to be in HD.

Got B licence and started racing, it feels a little different. Photo mode has some good potential, especially cause of the jump drive capabilities.

OH, I have a VGA adapter for my PS2 :imu:
Looks .. like a computer screen clear.. Made by Innovations

virus you couldnt get to transfer your files from gt3??

yea espeacially those coffe breaks, knocking over cones :P

I sold that game like.. i dont know 2 years ago, I needed room on my memory card, it was deleted long ago

Holy Shit you really notice the better graphics when you drive on the original's tracks, I didn't know the PS2 could still have this good of graphics.

I started tonight as well.

I had GT3 data so I transferred my B and A licenses and 100,000 credits. I bought a Dodge Charger (I was gonna get an old school SS Camaro but my roomate got one) and started pimping it out. I got the iB license as well and started on a leage sorta thing that only allows cars from 1970 and older. It pays 10k per win. Stocking up money for a Ford GT or something else that comes to my attention.

holy shit I got the NIKE One 2022!!
heh, its teh 2022 year model.
but.. its 2005. You guys will have to wait, im special

ooohhhhhhh noooo, it won't let me race it for money..???

"ERROR you cannot advance past this point becuase NIKE 2022 is a special car." ;(

EDIT: seems you can't race this car against any other cars..
This thing has 8 gears!

I have that thing too :P I haven't bothered trying to race it. I wish I could sell it for money :P

I really wanna know what the hell these A-Spec points are for. I doubt they're for judgung how good you are considering winning some races gives you like 1-5 points whereas winning a simple overtaking mission will net you 250...Anybody have any idea what they're for?

heh, i dont have the nike car, im only 2.2 percent done...and that seoul track is pissing me off

if nintendo made GT4 it would have scored an 11

I;ve almost got all my license ... the sun is coming up... i keep waking up and pressing the x button....

man if nintendo made GT4 it would scored an 11.

OFF TOPIC/MOVED:

I hate nintendo.. ever since they left the game boy non-color for 12 years just to milk everyones kid in the world for $90. $90 for that POS! my friends SEGA put out 2 or 3 color units(if you count the nomad portable genesis not made by SEGA) .. hell even Atari had a color unit during this time. ****ERS would rather make money.. i guess they did the right thing for thier company, look where they are at. King of handheld with 1 POS after another... Sony PSP.. now sony knows how to make a handheld, of course I don't go anywhere so..

Yes so now you know why... plus thats baby stuff now holmes

I've got GT4 setup with HD cables running at 420p, using the Driving Force Pro as well. It's incredible. Such a great game. Beautiful as well. There's so much to do, so little time.

haha, i remeber those all nigthers i did for gt 3 (messed up my sleeping habit)

i hope i wont go thought it again for gt4

I went through a 5:30am night of GT4 last night. I didn't have class today until noon. I kept racing my charger in a $50,000 tournament series while watching Shrek 2 on my roomates laptop :P I amassed $260,000 and bought a Merceded SL 65 for $190,000ish. This thing is so badass to drive. I jacked it up to 970-something hp and I just tear up the track, nice handling, amazing speed, great fun :)

what the hell is b-spec for..lazy people??

I use it for farming money and races that are so damn easy it's not even fun.

lol thats what im using b-spec for also

but i thought there would be more to it in b-spec

I don't see what else they could've added to B-Spec to make it better.

I love my Mercedes :) I kick so much ass with it.

i dont know, i guess i'm thinking too hard on something so simple

the fastest car i have so far is my fairlady z, can't wait till i get my hands on the other cars like the f1 cars :E

I also transfered 100,000 dollars and I have a mercades SL500 AMG!! great speed....but the turning is a little bad..until I made the car lighter...then it was good. I finished the ia licenses, and the last one scared me....I was going so fast my car started shakeing  If I'd had move the car just a little, my car would have spun out of control at 220MPH or 365KMH...it's great fun....I WANT THE MERCADES SLR MCLAREN!!!

I've heard lots of mention of B-Spec. I don't have the game yet, so I haven't actually seen what it is. Is it some kind of auto-race thing or something? I'm really curious.

Right before you start the race there is a settings for your car.

Go in there and you can turn off the driving assistance (training wheels).
Now you're cookin' with gas!
Then you can put alot more power to the ground. you will have to be more carefull how hard you press the gas, especially during turning in a rear wheel drive car, or you will spin out.

EDIT: In most cases using a higher gear during turns will give the car less power so it doesn't have the power to spin the wheels and spin you out.

While you are in there you should drop the car to the ground and stiffen the suspension.

B spec is directors mode. I haven't tried it yet but you can let the computer drive for you. heh.

How do you take some of this fuel out?? Anyone know?
Starting a 2 or 5 lap race with a full tank of gas is rediculous!
All that extra weight.. roughly 8 lbs. per gallon. that will make you slow as hell.

Does the game even keep track of the weight of the fuel? I mean whether or not fuel weight is going to make a noticeable difference is a debateable issue in and of itself, but first you should see if you can figure out if it even keeps TRACK of the weight of the fuel.

Oh wait...or are you the type of person who in real life removes their hubcaps as a weight reduction?

You guys raced any endurance yet?

Heh, not even close to 25% completion yet. That's the new restriction. I guess they want you to work for your money rather than just getting a badass car after winning a $250,000 race and kicking ass (exactly what I did in GT3 :P).

In real life 15 gallons of fuel @ 8 lbs. each comes to 120 lbs. this is makes a huge difference in real life, you try and see how fast you can run while carrying 125 lbs. It's more difficult on a car the same way, they just have more power to overcome it.

Not to be rude but you don't know what you are talking about, It's not debatable, but a fact.

Do you have the game? You should know that weight is an issue, when you are buying parts for the car you can pay for weight reductions, it will tell you right there what you can expect performance wise.

The number 1 rule in comparing fast cars is
POWER VERSUS WEIGHT

My car In real life has a stage 2 weight reduction consisting of things like a carbon fiber hood, racing seat, and the car is tubbed (nothing interior but my seat, carpet and dashboard),trunk and rear seats, air-conditioner, power steering, everything removed
I have light-weight alloy wheels not hubcaps

It made my car 3 times better performer:
accelerating, top speed, during braking and cornering, even fuel economy is boosted, since it has less weight to lug around.

But I don't know if this game keeps track of the fuel or weight yet becuase I haven't raced longer than 10 laps.

The fuel weight is a factor in other racing sims I have played.

Since all the cars start with full tanks, then its no handicap, but it would be nice if you could take some out to increase performance. I don't think you can however.

Bah, alright. :(

I planned to get a pretty fast car and head over to the endurance races to earn some big money... However, that's history now.
Damn you Yamauchi, damn you to hell!

OWNED!

I'm not sure about the fuel myself. I haven't raced my tank down enough to notice either. Maybe when I finally make it to endurance races.

b-spec is you telling the computer to drive for you, so basically the computer does the driving instead of you

you just say if you want the computer to go faster or drive steady, its all up to you

and when you win the race in b-spec mode, you do get money and the car for the race if you have it completed

Has anyone tried Nitros Oxide?

Im so poor, I don't want to waste money on it, if you can't combine the effects of nitros and turbo.

I'm afraid its one or the other. Is it?

I have NOS on my Mercedes that's got a stage 4 turbo kit. The best way to use it imo is to boost it up to a 50-shot rather than the default 30. Much more noticeable boost in speed. Besides...I never use a whole tank anyways. It doesn't have to be refilled either, each race you have a new tank.

Cool! Awesome.

I hated in the other versions of GT that some cars (hondas) couldn't be fitted with turbos. when in real life they can.

And in real life, with the help of a computer,(so you dont blow your engine up) you can combine the effects of NOS and turbo.

So I'm really glad they corrected this.

So is there a button to use NOS? or is it automatically used?

By default it's R1 for NOS. My only complaint it in B-spec mode the AI doesn't use it...but eh. I don't use B-spec that much.

NOS is sweet

This game is awesome.

I tried B spec Directors mode for the first time and the computer keeps wrecking my car.

I tried push and it was passing mofo's but then it hit the dirt
common sense told me that push = pushing your luck

So I moved it down to fast and it wrecked again, and the cpu was driving like an idiot, using reverse and shit! lol

So if i put it on steady will that be competitive enough to win with or do you have to alternate ?

I also was pressing overtake button but ..

IF you want it done right you have to do it yourself i guess.

what should I put it on steady?
EDIT: I'm saving up for the 1.35 million dollar Xanavi NISMO SKYLINE and the Lancer Evolution S. Rally Car

Ive got all but that one. every test is a time trial lap. I'll do it when i have to, by that time I'll be better at the game

Okay, I tried GT4 at a friends for about an hour, and one main things has made me not want to buy the game anymore:
(Im bad at explaining things, so read carefully)
When you race in third person view, the camera acts differently than it used to (in previous gt titles). By 'differently', I mean that it follows ur car way tooo....tightly...

In GT1,2,3, the camera followed ur car better, with a little bit of sway, so you could see the side of your car when turning sharply.
The good thing about that kind of camera is that it allowed me to feel the physics in the game, and the feel of the car.

BUT, in GT4, the camera hardly sways at all. It just sticks to your car's rear and it doesnt feel right
Its bad because it makes that game feel like some crappy arcade racing game!

I searched all through the options and stuff and couldnt find any options to change the type of camera :(

well, I did only race in arcade mode, so I guess i should ask, does it feel like this in sim mode too?

I know most ppl probably dont give a shit, but it really ruined the game for me, It just feels to arcade-like or something...

I could get used to driving in fisrt-person view, but i'd like to be able to switch to a view where I can just view my purty car, But GT4's outside view doesnt let me view the car like that arararraggh! I cant explain it...

I only played it for an hour, great game, so please someone tell me im wrong and there's an option to change the camera type to the way it used to be in gt123...
:(
