I didn't realize antisemitism is so prevalent, but after looking at this article & the comments on digg, it all struck me as a bit odd. Regardless of whether you agree/disagree with US support for Israel, to me the article seemed somewhat conspiracy-theory ridden & antisemitic, reflecting what was said about Jews in Germany prior to the Holocaust. The basic idea is that Jews control everything in a greedy secret-society manner. Now what's very interesting about antisemitism is it's the opposite of most forms of bigotry (like racism). Rather than being regarded inferior, Jewish people are almost viewed in a super-natural light.

What's worse than the article itself are the comments on digg itself. Comments about Jews controlling all media, internet, government, etc, etc, etc. Also comments about the holocaust merely ridding themselves of their occupiers. And it gets much worse. Just skim through them and you'll see what I mean. I'm surprised anyone believes this BS.

Anyway, if Jewish people were capable of all of this, wouldn't it make more sense to be on their good side? Oh well, bigotry is rarely rooted in intelligent thinking.

P.S. I've had a bad headache for 3 days straight, so hopefully this makes sense.

Psst! - It's Digg. They have entire groups dedicated to burying things that do not serve the left's interest. It might sound paranoid, but it does, and is happening.

Digg has a lot of problems with this, the founder even admitted it - http://searchengineland.com/070302-083656.php

Anyway, just remember: they're not "anti-Semitic", they're just "anti-Zionist"....... It's true, dude! They would never call Jews "nazi kikes" in their posts.

By the way, you think that's bad? Brace yourself: http://digg.com/politics/Wiped_off_the_Map_The_Rumor_of_the_Century_2

this whole antisemitism thing is dumb, the Hebrews weren't the only semitics. And whenever someone criticizes Israel, they are always labeled anti-Semites. Hell i have every right to criticize Israel and America's undying support for Israel. I mean they sunk a US Ship, killing a lot of men, and it gets swept under the rug.

leftist conspiracy indeed

While that system is supposed to be used to remove superfluous or irrelevant content from Digg, the mechanism is often abused to remove useful and insightful content by malicious users for self-serving and vindictive reasons

Here are some examples:

Burying Sony

(undefined burried) Sony slashes prices on Blu-ray player (Spam)

(adm58 burried) Sony slashes prices on Blu-ray player (Spam)

omg they're trying to kill zionist Microsoft and overthrow the government of Sony, and I'm pretty sure he's behind it all

you're crazy  :rolling:

I mean they sunk a US Ship, killing a lot of men, and it gets swept under the rug.

They attacked a ship by accident, that is hardly something to hold Israel as a whole responsible for. Besides, it was far from swept under the rug, that is plain bullshit.

By the way, nice try, Stern.

This article is why I left both Digg and Reddit.

God damn.

I didn't understand ANY of that.

"nice try"? I just proved you're a conspiracy nut who thinks Digg has a leftist agenda to censor news

phantomdesign: what didnt you get?

I didn't understand any of it, just seemed like you were trying to sound crazy or sarcastic?

P.S. That was a completely unnecessary edit of my post & deletion of that other guy's post.

Woah, I must've missed your "proof." He said something, you mocked him, he said "nice try", you said "I proved..." There was no proving involved, not even arguing, just mocking. Not to say he's right, but it irks me when people say they've proved something they haven't.

Also, he didn't say he thinks Digg has a leftist agenda. He thinks that there are Digg users abusing the Bury system, and that at least some of these users are coordinated and have a leftist agenda.

its funny how you can shit shit against Muslims/Christians but if you're a jew...prepare to be called Nazi/Anti-Semite.

Same thing with blacks and whites. If you say black power, Sharpton gets you a medal. If you say whit power, you get prison time.

Bah, who cares. It's just the same shit from before in reverse.

There are religious Jews and there are ethnic Jews; I was talking about ethnic Jews, but I'm not sure a lot of people understand the difference. You can criticize Israel, or tenants of the Jewish faith, specific Jewish people, and many other things. That's not the problem. Even saying things like "Jews are greedy" will probably hardly get you noticed. I think hyper-racial sensitivity is a bad thing, but there comes a point when it truly becomes a problem.

The problem is when you have articles like the one I linked to that vastly generalize the world's Jewish population in almost the exact same ways that were used by the Nazis to kill Jews so many years ago. Just look at the second comment (and many others) at the Digg link in the OP.

The conspiracy is so prevalent that I don't expect to be a user here, if I say what I really think about the Jewish lobby. The problem in America, is that the reach of Jews is so vast, that they control even the Internet boards.... just try to post something more strident than this.... and you will be GONE.

Jews are everywhere... monitoring everything.... destroying careers and reputations, should any of their interests be challenged. Just look what they've done to President Carter. Ben Stein actually went on CNN and called him a drooling Jew hater..... a neo Nazi..... why? -- because Carter doesn't want Israelis using Pali kids for target practice.

America is an occupied nation, much like Palestine and Iraq. The difference is that American Gentiles are too fearful to resist their tormentors. Even as the Jews hawk for more war on Iran.

Readers - please do your homework. Find out why the Germans 'looked the other way' when their governors decided to rid the country of troublesome Jews. The Germans found themselves in exactly the same situation as Americans. Their government, media, banking... all controlled by people who were Jews first, and Germans somewhere further down the list.

Let's see how long this lasts. Nobody is allowed to look into why this tiny minority has been reviled and detested throughout history... by every host country who tried to help them.

Google Rockwell's famous allegory... Ducks & Hens.... it pretty much sums up the problem. Ditto for George Orwell's Animal Farm. Both pieces try to tell the story of this enemy within.

The problem with valid criticisms of Israel is that some folk, especially easily worked up Israeli's, don't realize that the political and national entity that is Israel is in fact rather obviously distinct from the whole concept of jewry as a whole.

Theres a huge world of difference from pointing out that the Israeli handling of the whole Palestinian situation is saddening and far from a fair deal, then saying all the super human lazer eye wielding money making jews are out to eat our new born children.

Personally, I don't even get how the Germans during the Hitler era could convince themselves of some of the stuff they heard, or why in general so many parts of the world has such distrust of Jews at least and outright genocidal hate at most.

I mean, granted, peoples and faiths have hated each other for much less then because "they takes our munniez" but its the sheer level of contempt sometimes puzzles me, maybe because before the Jewish state they were easy targets?. Much easier to pick on a landless nationality with no unified body to speak for them then pick on Christians and risk another crusade or whatever.

This then gets to the stage where some folk think that because of Jewish history, Israel, the now existent body to speak on behalf of a Jewish national identity, is free and above reproach.

Meh, I have dreams where that whole holy land bit of the world is just lifted out of the ground one night, the Israeli's dropped in America, the Palestinians dropped in the neighbouring countries, and the big hole where the holy land was filled in by the sea, never to be seen, or to trouble the world again.

*siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh*

One can hope...

A good summary of the state of affairs.

Brr. Yes, it's more prevalent than you might think: try searching 'jew' on google. You'll even find an apologetic google explanation as to why the results are so shocking.

Wait, what? The digg comments are bizarro (although it's not as if the whole comments page is an anti-semitic love-in) but what's wrong with the BBC article exactly? Not only is it a second-hand report caused by controversy on a book it didn't write, but it goes out of its way to distance itself from anti-semitism:

BBC said:
Mearsheimer and Walt do not talk of a "Jewish lobby", as these groups do not speak for all US Jews and include many non-Jews, but of an "Israel lobby", whose main aim, they say, is to convince America that its interests are aligned with those of the Israeli state.
It also makes an effort to avoid conspiracy theory by emphasising the "scholarly and dispassionate" tone of the book:
BBC said:
The fact that the book invites criticism, however, is also a strength. Its scholarly, dispassionate tone is meant to encourage a debate.

"Reasonable people can disagree and one of the reasons we want to have a discussion is to get issues out in the open so people can talk about them," Mr Walt says.
Indeed, it cites many of the factual problems found by critics:

BBC said:
Robert Lieberman, a Columbia University political scientist, argues that they overstate the lobby's financial power.

Mearsheimer and Walt cite cases of members of Congress losing their seats after running afoul of pro-Israeli groups which then bankrolled their opponents. But Mr Lieberman says the contributions involved are unlikely to make a difference and the book fails to establish a clear link between lobby money and victory.

I don't understand why it was deleted, there was nothing wrong with it. My post was edited, removing my reply to your comment too.

Presumably ******* thought the post was so silly he wanted to get rid of it entirely.
I still don't understand your problem with the BBC article.

Only thing I can see, other than their pandering to nutjobs, is the image with the text "Whose interests do US soldiers in Iraq defend?" sums up the BBC quite nicely. Anyway, "Tony Judt" says

In this context, he adds, Mearsheimer and Walt's book is an "enormous act of intellectual courage".

"They gained nothing from it, but the community has really gained something because with each little step like that, the conversation opens up a bit more."

Yes, David Duke and the Jew Watch.com retard Frank Waltner has gained a lot from this.

Presumably ******* thought the post was so silly he wanted to get rid of it entirely.

First will take the silly (as they are already silly)
then will take the serious (as they are too ******* serious)
then we take... we take the world :sniper:
