A long time ago, in a place far far away....(2003, London) The Dixie Chicks, a popular country/pop group from Lubbock Texas stated at a concert "We're ashamed that president bush came from Texas"
Instantly, their entire audience was thrown in to an uproar. Children were crushing CD's and burning pictures of the dixie chicks as their parents watched on and laughed (go censorship!), radio stations banned their music and other country stars began refusing association with them. Especially here in texas, the Dixie Chicks were equated with the antichrist. How dare they "disrespect" the office of the holy and unshakable president!
Sales began falling, and the Dixie Chicks were forced into a public apology.
Now, four years later, with the president's approval rating falling, and with everybody taking a shot at the president and nothing goes wrong, the Dixie Chicks have finally retracted their apology, saying that the president "deserves no respect" and releasing an album geared towards political views and censorship rather than drunken husbands and trailer homes, shocking their fans yet again. But this time, nobody is burning pictures or breaking CD's or banning country music...the minority who still feel the same way they did in 2003 now simply grumble and refuse to buy their CD silently.
What a change our country has gone through!
