I just failed it because I missed most of the legal questions and about 2 valid regular driving ones. missed 7 :/

Have you ever seen a 5 year old that can fit in a car seat?
Shouldn't you signal a couple hundred feet or so? Rather than counting seconds/gauging them?
What does your change of address time (10 days rather than 30) have to do with a driver's permit?

Meh :P

I failed mine yesterday because I don't know friggin' road signs!! :flame:

I got perfect on the first part, perfect on the third, and needed 12 out of 16 on the middle section. I got 11. :(

I got 47/52 overall, but it wasn't good enough. Stupid roadsigns, who cares about you?! :flame:

I got most of the driving, signs, IMPORTANT stuff for staying safe and being a defensive driver. I did however miss about two or three valid ones I think. I remember I said to turn away from a skid, but found out you should turn INTO it. Good to know in case that ever happened to me, so maybe just failing that will save my life someday

The signs I got wrong will never affect my driving. One of them I got wrong was "Snow-blower in use in a construction area." I live in Canada, but I don't plan on driving into a snow-blower any time soon.

And one was about a truck-weighing station. I plan on staying in school and never driving a truck.

Hmmm I should read the damn book twice before going into the test.

I don't mean to sound rude, but how the heck do you fail the driving test? All you have to do is read the book. Plus you have to take a class which should cover the stuff too.

The driving tests in Europe are far far far more difficult than in the U.S. In Europe it's a genuine accomplishment to get a license, whereas in the U.S. you get one pretty well automatically as long as you are not retarded and a member of the genus Homo-*.

I go to do my test tomorrow, and a friend of mine took his a few days ago. His report: they make you drive fast, then slow, reverse for 20 feet and park. Then you get your license.

I'll tell you how mine went tomorrow afternoon.

I've got little driving experience but I know how to, went in for my learner's permit, not my license. There is no class.

my driving test was pretty easy all except for the obvious, the three point turn around and parallel parking are the only difficult things. And during my driving test they made me parallel park between two cars on main street during morning rush hour :( but i passed first time heheh... The written test i don't really remember, its been so long.

I passed both my permit test and my Driver's Ed class with flying colors.

Clearly, you didn't read the book very thoroughly if you failed the permit test :p

Yeah, that's what I mean. In the US (at least in Florida) you don't get tested for parallel parking or three point turns. They just care if you know the difference between stop and go.

The permit test is just logic/common sense. I didn't study at all and got all the questions right.

You know the best bit, though? If I pass my brainless american driver's license test on an automatic car, I get an international license, which means I'm fully qualified to drive a stickshift in England! Har/Woot!

That's what I thought.

If your taking your test tomorrow, be sure to make it painfully obvious that you are looking in all your mirrors, otherwise they'll dock you for not doing so, I specifically checked all my mirrors but that chinese girl that was giving the test took points off otherwise i would have gotten a flawless score :)

Thanks, will do.

Exact same thing happen to me. My intructor said I didn't look in the rearview mirror once since I didn't actually tip my head up, but just moved my eyes. Docked me one point so I ended up with a 99. Bastard.

yep exactly, same thing they didi to me... I think those dmv people hate life so much they can't stand to see some one succeed.

The book said "You must signal 100 feet before turning"- common sense.

But then the test's correct answer was "4 seconds"

I'm going to find an online one that has that exact listing (with 4 second turning, because that would be the matching book to the test I was given)

I was asked to park in a parking space, stop at a stop sign, drive forward and backward, and turn around. That's it! I passed and now have an international driver's license. Woot!

Congratulations man! Glad to hear you have your license. :)

I don't know how your test was but my permit test a long time ago went something like this:
If you are driving on the freeway and miss your exit do you:
A. Make a U-Turn in the middle of the freeway and go to exit.
B. Catch the next exit.
C. Come to a stop, turn on hazards, honk horn, and reverse to your exit.
When you come to a red light you:
A. Come to a complete stop.
B. Stop and then go.
C. Slam on the gas while looking both ways.
I think I got a perfect score :D.

Also, I am not kidding. These are actual questions off the test (not word for word but actual question).

Thanks :D My parents promptly removed me from their insurance and gave me a university bus pass! :hmph:

That being said... I won't have a car at uni anyway, so there's no point me draining their insurance. So it's not like I mind.

Oh, yeah, for sure. Just to clear things up, I never went to any classes - waste of time and money, in my opinion - and I never studied.

I got perfect on Parts I and III but the road signs were like Picasso to me. Have never, ever, seen any of those signs. :frown:

Okay, went back and did it today, passed totally. :P.

This one was DRIVING questions. None of that stuff about when you need to get a form in if you change plates or crap that has nothing to do with a permit. Got my Learner's Permit/new ID now :D

I aced all my written test for driving....but guess what.... It took me 3 trys on the actual driving portion to pass.

First one.... I was doing perfect untill the part where you pull over and park and then back up a bit. When I was backing up I went just a little into a driveway and up onto the curb. Going onto the curb is an automatic fail.

Second time. I had a fat ass bitch of a tester that went nazi on me about looking over my shoulder. Basicly, if I didn't look over my shoulder 2/3 of the time, I wouldn't pass.....and guess what? I sure as hell didn't do that and I didn't pass. I knew that I needed to just do what they wanted. But it isn't physicly friggn' possible to do that. I would have just rear ended someone if I'd done that. That and the god damn neighborhood she made me drive in had screwed up roads and crappy ass signs. She marked me off 19 times.......19..... in the first test that I screwed up, I only had 2 mistakes other than the curb thing. She was a whore......

Third one.... I had a really nice asian guy that bearly talked and he did this weird clicking thing with his toung, i think it was ever time I messed up. But I only messed up like 4 times (14 is the limit)

so yeah......that was my DMV experence...........damn well happy that its over and i have my license...

Permit test was easy as hell. I just picked up one of the books while I was waiting in line and only missed two questions. There is no excuse for failing the US one.

The driving test was easy too, but I can see how you could fail that if you get a real hardass tester.
