Do atheists still say bless you when someone sneezes?

Well i WAS an atheist, but later on i mixed in a bit o' buddhism - So i'm kinda twoflavoured xD

Anyway, I use them all, preferbly with very coarse, harsh and long insults, like "Jesus mother****ing Christ, this ****ing piece of ****-shit is really pissing me the **** off!"

or

"Dear mother****ing god and all that is mother****ing holy, this shitty piece of (subject) mother****ing (conjunctive past of verb) did it again, for **** sake! Holy ****ing shit, this ****ing pisses me off to no extent!"

When things aren't going the way I want them to go (primarily during video editing, after a program has crashed for the fiftieth time, literally), you better gtfo the room. :p
 
yes we do. though i personally don't say it in English, preferring the German guzendheit instead (I think that's how u spell it).
 
I don't believe in any sort of conventional god and I say bless you just out of courtesy and respect, typically.
 
I say "bless you" when someone sneezes. People also say things like, "bless your heart".

My mother is a Christian, so I grew up around it.

I noticed I don't say "God bless you". Do normal people have the power to bless people anyway? Why are we getting blessed for sneezing anyway?

Why just sneezing? They are spreading germs like crazy. Should we bless people when they fart or cough as well? Ironically, farting is the only one that cannot spread germs.

I'm not an atheist, but I find myself struggling with my faith sometimes, as most people do. I would describe myself as Christian, though. But hey, that's fine with me if you're atheist. I have no cross words for you.

I remember being thought of as a super-nerd for always saying "Gesundheit" instead of "bless you" when I was a kid.
 
Spend time on this forum - especially in politics - and you'll find yourself Atheist before long. :p

Seriously, that was truly awful comedy. And how can stand-up even work in a fucking stadium with seemingly tens of thousands in the audience? Stand-up should be done in comedy clubs or theaters. Not a stadium.

OT: In Dutch there's no "God bless you", just "gezondheid" which is gesundheit. I generally don't say anything, you sneezed, so what? Why make nonsensical commentary about bodily functions?

And I use goddammit and Jesus, because hey, "blasphemy is a victimless crime".
 
No... I thought it was commonly accepted that athiests replace "bless" with "f*ck". You know, out of respect.

Edit - I also spent about 30 minutes browsing through Dane Cook clips on youtube and did not find one funny. What a douche.

believe or not that's kinda what happened to me ... i read some long ass threads about atheism and how stupid creationists are (i wasnt a creationists in the first place) ... but some of the things i read really got me thinking and caused me to search for answers ... i would consider myself agnostic tho not atheist
 
religion is a joke in my opinion, it is only something that is needed for the large majority of society so people have a reason to do good things.

However, whether your a christian, athiest, agnostic, muslim, etc, who gives a f*ck, it's all about how you are as an individual person. As long as your a good person, there should be no reason to incorporate your beliefs into arguements with people.

Bingo. As a Christian, I've been around people who think it their duty to steer people towards the light that is Jesus Christ. But what if they've already found the light and don't need anything or anybody to guide them in their lives? In this way I support ALL people who are happy with their belief system, whether they're Buddhist, Muslim, Jewish, atheist, whatever.

As long as people don't push their beliefs on me, I'm fine, and won't do the same to them.

exactly, and in the end, if there is a god, I am sure he thinks were all a bunch of assholes for being so pushy about our beliefs.

theres a song by voltaire called god thinks, it's satirical, very funny, but it fits this perfectly

I tend to say some weird things related to God and stuff like that, can't think of the weird ones right now, I only say them when I get pissed...
