Do a lot of ppl use the in game voice chat because its kind of essential for a team game such as this?

I know I use it, and it seems when my team DOESN'T use it, we always go down the shitter...

lol, there still the selection of ppl who dont communicate and do their own thing? even tho that would probably end up being a loss.

Oh of course. On a multiplayer game, there will always be lone wolfs. They feel this is Counter-Strike, and will just go nuts, then die, and keep doing it trying to get it right.

what about the class balancing? is it important to not have all engineers etc? to win battles and do ppl balance out the classes?

People usually wise up and pick a class that their team needs. But there will always be the adamant sniper/engineers that go alone.

I don't use it, and actually have it turned off so I don't even hear anyone else. Bloody unnecessary and annoying as usual.

voice chat unneccessary? i think not... helps the team stay more organised

Helps the team stay more annoyed! Seriously no game made ever has been better with voice with one, ONE!, exception. Typing works fine for anything you should actually need to say... or the character voice shortcuts.

I disagree, Letters. Voicechat is instant, easy communication.

"Behind us"

"Intelligence down outside fort"

"Spy in our base"

etc.

The Battlefield series, SWAT series, Insurgency, UT2004... the list could go on.

Everyone I encounter using VOIP in TF2 just spams crap and I have to mute them, it's really annoying.

i disagree letters, its much easier and quicker to communicate with your team, if you are speaking and not typing.

BF2. Without voice, the game is just ridiculously boring and retarded.

I turned it off, I highly doubt my team would listen anyway. I'll just type what I want to say, and if I have a bunch of friends in one game we'll just use Teamspeak or Ventrilo. Like today I organized everyone who was on vent to go engy and we held the last stage of dustbowl w/3 engys for 18 minutes (which was amazingly sick, when the rest of the team started following and we had 8/16 being engys and the rest mostly hwguys + medics)

I think people don't use it because people will take the mikey out of there voice, whether it is too high pitched, or have a strong acsient.

I use it ALL the time, and it pisses me off that the majority doesn't use it. It really is a time saver and you get more organization out of it. Although LAN chat (meaning the person is next to you) is champ.

I use it when im not with friends. If im playing with my team or friends we all use vent.

any game without voice chat makes it ten times harder and personally, i find it boring. id rather have Shamrock spitting mad lyrics while I'm getting control points.

agreed. it you need to report something quickly back to the team , you ca report in a matter of secs, if you stop and type takes longer and might be killd in the process.

Last night I was begging a medic to uber me (I was a pyro) because it was what was needed to clear out a choke point and no one would listen to me  then I found out my mic was muted <--- n00b and I didn't feel so bad.

this has happened to me WAY to many times. i have this stupid icemat headset with mic. the headset is pretty boss, but when it comes to the mic, its not like bad quality but christ, i get lost in all the wires trying to plug it in.
