Do *NOT* use Creative hardware or drivers at ALL!

i have an audigy 2 zs sound card and it is lush,

maybe you jsut dont konw how to operate a computer??

annndd most chipsets smell sppesh ac97 and realtek

i had onboard ac97 and i was liek arrrgg cos it was tinny and didnt know what eax was,
PLUS

chipsets require cpu power to render the sound, a soundcard will take the work away from the proccy thusly u do it a Inney weeny bit more fps!! and great sound did i mention ? and 7.1 maybe and 108 dB snr and maybe like omg digital out ?

Careful about CPU usage. Some sound cards use more then onboard.

I have Soundstorm, and it's superior to a SB Live card.

for me onboard sound will never be an option. an external soundcard will always be the best option. no interference with any of the devices inside the computer. alot of people dont care, but i am extremly anal with audio quality (im a producer) and if i hear ANYTHING that shouldnt be there i get pissy.

the extigy is awsome for games.

Obviously you don't care *that* much, there's alot better out there. Even within Creative's lineup.

All I can say to you Creative users is, GET A LIFE!!

Creative SUCKS! I had a mobo on my old PC that didn't communicate very well with Creative cards in particular, thus I ended up with stuttering sounds ALL THE TIME! When I inadvertantly trashed my mobo by using a program called "KillCMOS", I took the chance of getting a new nForce2 mobo, with inbuilt sound.

Ever since then, my problems have gone away entirely.

OH, but don't stop me there! It seems the Creative Curse lends itself to all manner of hardware, too!

I bought a Creative Webcam back early last year, and it performed crappily on my old PC, and not only that, but it messed up my IDE channel drivers, which manifested itself mostly when I tried to play DVDs on my PC - the performance was choppy beyond belief. As soon as I got rid of the webcam and drivers and forced Windows to reinstall the drivers I was fine again.

I thought the problem had gone for good until I bought WinDVD earlier this year - then again my DVD playback was choppy.

Why? Cos the bloody software installed CREATIVE AUDIGY drivers when I didn't tell it to!!

All I can say is, DON'T TRUST CREATIVE! THEIR DRIVERS SUCK, THEIR HARDWARE SUCKS, AND YOU'RE BETTER OFF WITH THE INBUILT SOUND ON YOUR NFORCE2 MOBO!

Heed my words.

Awesome.

Even though I love my SB live and its been a really good card for the last 6 years or so.
I've been wondering about these so called iproblems associated with via chipsets, amd cpu's, geforce cards and SB cards.
So last night I unistalled the SB live, removed the card and Installed the drivers for the onboard AC97 onboard sound.
I've got 5:1 speakers, and they sound great with the SB live, But my PC room is right next to the room where my wife and I sleep, And the walls are "paperthin".
So cos I don't want to blast her outta bed with thumping bass at 3am when I'm playing CS or COD, I've started using headphones a lot.

Now the AC97 sound is'nt as good as a dedicated card, But on headphones it is ok.

Anyways the point is (finally!) I've been getting the stuttering sound and freezing in HL2 & CS like a lot of people, And last night after installing the onboard sound drivers, I played HL2 for about 6 hours.
Normally I would get the stuttering every half hour or so, each bit of suttering lasting for about 5-10 seconds.
Last night I got 1 second of stuttering, It happened just once.

Now considering my PC was configured exactly the same as always, except with no SB live in, Surely the problem must point to the SB live.

I could'nt have just been lucky this one time, cos the stuttering/freezing happens every time I've played in the past.
Coincidence?
I think not!!!

Will you all accept my apologies for the rude brusqueness of my original post? I was actually drunk and pissed off at the time, but I've since come to regret being such a rude little prick.

Please forgive me, all of you?

Hey! don't worry we all get mad at times.
Like it really matters anyway, that someone feels that they need to get something off their chest, and rants on forums like this.
It better than taking it out on your wife, g/f, dog, granny, etc.

Its like me at the moment..earlier this evening my wife and I are arguing cos I'm outta work at the moment, money troubles and all that.

So instead of coming on here and taking out all my frustrations on you faceless people I threw a glass of O/J over her head.
She was'nt amused, where as if I'd ranted and raved on here, in a few days it would have been forgotten, And I could have just gotten on with my life.
But No, Now I don't get sex for a month, Which gives me more time to come here and rant and rave at you faceless people.
