Do you find yourself playing/purchasing more games to detract your attention from HL2

I'm buying less games now. It has absolutely nothing to do with HL2. I'm buying less because the weather is nicer and I can spend more time outside.

I'm no more excited for HL2 than I am for Doom 3, Stalker or Star Wars Battleground.

i bought Far Cry so i had something to do waiting for HL2, i don't play may games so i get one game i really want then play it loads, HL2 shall probably assuage me for a long time.

The FC reasoning was the fact i wanted to play SOMETHING and it looked the best of the bunch, it's good but not quite there.

(overly melodramatic post imminent)

I find myself becoming increasingly cynical at the entire gaming industry as the weeks, months and years roll by. Watching as the console market swallows up a huge amount of developers and stalwart PC developers jumping ship to be part of the more profitable console market (Blizzard....you bitches). I watch as mediocre games and pointless money making addons are churned out by the truckload. I watch as games lose their heart and soul to be replaced by glitter and gloss.

There is only one not-so-faint flame burning over at Valve headquarters threatening to set the PC game industry alight and take back what's rightfully theirs. Now all we have to do is play the waiting game.....

....

Ahh, the waiting game sucks, lets play hungry hungry hippos!!!!

Nicely put, I find it harder and harder to please my gaming desires Im hoping that HL2 will reasure my faith in PC gaming as did HL1 and BF....I truly believe that PC Gaming is the way of the future of gaming without a doubt but can the industry and big name companies risist?

I, too, find that most games recommended to me are dissappointing. I think it's because I compare how engaging a game is to books and movies rather than other games so I don't enjoy them as much. Most games I play now just make me want HL2 even more (well, if HL2 turns out to be the game that we expect it to be).

I personally like to play the suikoden games...(old and good rpg) to pass the time.

Everytime a new game comes out my main thought is 'well good , this will help pass the time until HL2 comes out' everytime however I know that HL2 wont be out anytime soon , and it still wont.

Hitman 3 (pure love)
Battlefield Vietnam
BF1942 mods (DC EoD and expansions)
Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield
Far Cry (Never played it: horrible gameplay)
Splinter Cell 2 (Never finished it: very slow going lack of fun)

joint ops demo has taken my mind off hl2 for a while. i may have to buy the full game, it really is fun
