It's funny when a server has hackers on both teams and they end up in a rivalry and start targetting each other. It's like it's fair because it ends up being them the last ones alive having a tough time killing each other.

I still cheat in counterstrike occasionally.... calling it hacking just seems dumb unless you wrote the entire thing yourself.

I generally only cheat when there's someone else doing it and I want to show them how it's done, or when there's some idiot I really want to piss off.

Ah well, playing CS 1.5 with a buch of hacking eastern europeins has given me a rather er, hardline stance on hacking. Having someone role up to your spawn point with a scout that unloads the entire mag in about half a second aproximatly 3 seconds after the round has started is decidely un-funny.

But I still find it funny to play 'em when CD has just updated and none of them can shoot for toffie as their precious aim bots work properly so you have all the time in the world to put an AK round through their head.

Well... I like the name spoofer for Warcraft 3, but that can hardly be considered a hack.

I've never hacked in anything like Counter-Strike, and even if I wanted to I wouldn't know how to get the hacks or use them. :/

Yes, I did it plenty of times in Battlefield 1942. In the Omaha Beach map you could h4x through one of the bunkers so you were about 95% safe from all bullets (although you could get killed or badly injured if the destroyer shot a round into the bunker), so you could sit there and snipe players on the beach with them not seeing you.
Dice fixed the problem later in a patch.

Also in MoH Allied Assault (although I didn’t do it myself, only saw another player do it), you could h4x through the level so you fell a couple of meters under the ground and you kill other players with them not seeing you. I’m not really sure but I think it was impossible to kill them once they were under the ground.

Aplently, but I make sure it is a hacker environment if I do, so I don't ruin the gameplay of people who don't like it.
(I did everything too. Hell, I owned hackers in Diablo, it was fun.)

I used to hack all my PC games many years ago..Doom 1, Doom 2, even my SNES games (cheating is hacking). It was great fun.

EDIT: If your talking about hacking in a multiplayer based game..never really did it...and it takes the fun away...for some people it's more fun to see people frustrated.

I've never hacked in cs or a first person shooter. But when i was obsessed with the finding of items in diablo2 i started botting so that is a form of gayness in it's own right. I didn't believe there was a direct harm to other people on b.net, but there a bunch of indirect problems. Eg destroying the b.net d2 economy. A massive influx of high powered weaponry from botters helped drive prices down. The gap between rich and poor was virtually gone, those in power lost their power as noobmongers strolled around the secret cow level wielding windforces.

A server once wanted me to be the watcher for hacks back in 1.5. So I downloaded some hacks, played around with them on a private server, and got the feel for them so I knew what to watch for. The people who I thought were wallhacking, we mostly not.

It showed me alot..and helped me to see what to look for..very informative. And I don't encourage any form of hacking, it is very unfair, hence why I used private servers.
