Do you know just how far-reaching and undemocratic the EUs powers are?

It can be used as a political power to condemn actions made elsewhere in the world. Think of it as all the countries sending each other e-mails saying "omg this is horrible we must react to this" and the EU is the mailserver.

Except even that isn't very efficient because usually the EU nations will bicker among themselves and hardly unanimously criticize world events.

I'm not going to watch the video because sensationalism is a dish best never served ... but what are these liberties that you have lost because of the EU - as a UK citizen of all things when the UK has never fully engaged with Europe, ever.

Well, watch the damn video. You can't possibly say something is sensationalist when you haven't even watched it.

As an Irish citizen, where this nation has been broadly speaking very pro-Europe, I can't help but feel that the Daily Mail has gotten to you.

I don't read the Daily Mail - or any print newspaper for that matter. And I think it's poor form for you to be making such accusations when I've been giving lengthy reasons behind every claim I've made and still noone has come up with a single justification for joining the EU that doesn't involve charity to poorer nations at the direct expense of our own quality of life, which, as far as I'm concerned, is no justification at all.
I can't think of anyone who has similar political opinions to myself, so I don't particularly appreciate being labelled.

edit
Must I point out that the UK has no constitution, and changing laws affecting liberties in the UK can be carried by parliament alone, as opposed to civic poll. Which system then better serves 'liberties'? /rhetorical

Indeed, and that's one of the major flaws in the system. Gordon Brown has spoken of his intention to create a UK constitution, but to be honest I think that ship has sailed. It's far too late in our nation's history to be enshrining our rights in a timeless document. Not to mention that many of the liberties that things like the US Bill of Rights are designed to protect have already been taken away from us, so I doubt it would be an effective document anyway if written today.
In fact I wouldn't be surprised if it outlined the acceptable limits of free speech...

I don't like it, democracy should be brought closer to the people, not further away.

You see that right there is where we disagree with you. Mystery solved.

No. You're the only one who has expressed that opinion. Noone else has provided any reasons whatsoever, and I see no reason to assume they would be the same reason you have given.
In any case, if that genuinely was the purpose of the EU (and I can assure you it isn't), there's only one word to accurately describe taking billions of UK taxpayer money and giving it away to other European countries without the consent of the population - theft.
