When I look around, especially when its a plain blackground, i see little bacteria like things floating in from of me. Some of the things are long and striny, with a bunch of segments, and others are really small and are kinda tadpole shaped and move around, and some are just dots. When I turn my eyes, the things kinda slosh around in my field of vision. Is this normal?

It kinda looks like this: http://www.depts.ttu.edu/hillcountry/research/images/mscope images/bacteria and filamentous alga.jpg

lol

Yeah, I get that, too. :p

Do you wear glasses? If there's something like a spec or droplet of water on my lens and light is reflecting it, it seems to magnify the film on my eye. Just as you were concerned about.

For your information, what you see is dust.

Do you see them clearier when the sun reflects them?

When you are gestating in the womb, you have some extra blood vessels in your eyes. After birth, they become vestigial. What you see are old, unused capillaries in your eyes.

Truth.

See Greatgat's reply for that. In that case, it's probably not dust.

This happens to me too, it seems like you got a scratch on your eye or something, it doesn't fell like anything it just looks like a scratch

That doesnt makes sense etiher, they move around in my vision. If I look one direction, everything (and theres a whole lotta junk there) moves that way, then when my eyes stops moving, it all kinda "flows" just a bit farther.

It's not dust. There have been threads talking about this before. They're bacteria on the surface of your eyes, or something, and you see their wakes. You see them more when you are not totally focused and looking at a lighter background.

Lol I've always wondered what they are. I get them all the time. Dr. said it was just dust or a hair on my eye and they'll go away after awhile. Course they never went away. I called them floaters.

I think I see those after I get headrushes.

This is the right answer.

I get that too, usually if I'm staring at the ceiling when it's dark/dim.

But I'm special because I can make myself see something else! If I concentrate, I can make a small oval-shaped spot appear in the center of my vision. And inside the shape, there are a bunch of dots flowing by really fast. And it dissappears after a moment...weird?
I'll make a .gif to show you what I mean...

Yesh, I am nearsighted, so.. yeah I know why I got them.

I always thought it was bacteria n shit so close to our eyes that we could actually magnify the bacteria on our eyes.

Everyone has them, they're dead cells floating around in your eye.

I always thought that they were backteria on your eyelashes. Some scientific crackpot told me this when I was a wee boy.

I remenber I used to hav that hings a lot

yeah they're called floaters...i haven't read the rest of this thread so i dunno if anyone else has said that

everyone has them and you notice them more when you're looking at a plain background

for those who get migraines a lot aswell, like me, you often get something called aura before it aswell which for people who have never had it before can be proper frightening

its like your vision blinds and it spreads across from one eye to the next. it makes me feel sick just thinking about it

speaking of which, anyone else here who gets migraines a fair bit, does anyone experience what i do. first it starts off with aura which can last for a while then it turns into a numbing of the tongue, then travels down to my fingers and sometimes into my leg. very odd

Signs of stroke, Doppel?

Anyway, yeah I get them too. When I was young I thought it was just hallucinations o_O

Weird, I've never experienced having floaters. Must be kind of freak.

i see them, I always thought it was because i got sand in my eye a few years ago. I mean properly in my eye, inside my skull. I had to go to the hospital :(

ive had those for years

if you roll your eyeballs as much as possible while your eyes are closed, they move.

everybody gets em! I usually have fun with it. I'll look one extreme direction really fast...watch it start to move downwoards, move my eye slowly down...they up really fast, so it goes up, and doesn't disappear into the bottom of my eye. I'm weird.

One time I was stoned, and I started seeing them in the foreground while I was focused, too, like my focus was messed up... that was weird, it was like pepper floating in front of me.

the scientific reason is that the particles in the middle of the eye, in the liquid, start moving around. It causes what you had.
