So, do any of you ski ? I'm really good at it, I love it, to bad it donsn't snow in Mexico and I havn't ski in 2 years :x

I love off road skiing and free style, what about you ?

I've tried snowboarding a few times... always end up falling face first down a mountain covered in snow/ice though :p

Wow, it's the first off topic subject I have seen since 3 days.
I do snowboard. :)

Its been a year or two, but I've been skiing for probably a decade now.

Snowboard 9 years...would like to learn to ski but can't buy ski stuff at the moment.

I tried...but it's sooooo haardd to ski in the swamp...gators, you know.

Skiing is fun, actually i really enjoy it. not too bad at it, but havent gone skiing in a while.

havent skiid in ages. But i rode snowbladez like 2 years ago..= suicide..

Heh, do you mean off-piste skiing?? :D

Yeah i also love skiing, been probably about 14 times, which isn't bad considering i'm only 20. It's easily my fav. hobby, it's just a shame it's so expensive.

I tried skiing but didn't like it much. Snowboarding however, is something I adore. I would think myself rather good. I'm not great, but I can do a few tricks.

Never done snowboarding, I did'nt like the look of it much.

What do you mean exactly? Is it the look as in style or, the look as in having both your legs strapped to a board which looks like it could be potentially very painful?

I dont like not having something to hold onto (With sking you use those stick..things) Plus I dont have a cool hat, you have to have a cool hate to snowbored.

;( That brings back memories of my cool hat...the cool hat that was stolen.

I shall have to get a new one for this february, when I go snowboarding :D

I think its actually harder to ski because of the sticks. I find them constricting in a way, and I think any benefit from holding them is more of a placebo effect, since they aren't much use in reality if you are going to fall over. I mean, if you're gonna fall you're gonna fall, no point fighting it...just roll with it :D

Once, I was skiing in France, very fast in a red pist. Thats when , for some reason, I pulled up my leg, when my ski fell, it was left behind, I found myself skiing in one ski, it wasn't pretty.

It´s been a while, but I try to do it every winter.
I tried also snowboarding. It was hard at the beginning but I got hang of it pretty easily, but I think downhill skiing is a lot more fun than snowboarding.

This should have been a poll.

But yes, i Snowboard. I used to ski, but i switched over. I dont understand how people say skiing is more fun, because i would NEVER go back to skiing.

You people have funny names for the slopes. "pistes" and "red" and "offroad". LOL. Maybe its just because im a silly American. :naughty:

I are skii.

The sticks are very usefull when doing sharp turns at high speeds :p

I have tried snowboarding a few times, but prefer riding the Yamaha RX-1.

I love skiing. Mainly downhill of course but also cross-country.

The proper name is a piste (i think), off road should be 'off-piste' and red is just the difficulty level of the piste. (Green, Blue, Red, Black) are the usual ones (at least they are where i go skiing (Europe).

Sorry if you knew this already.

nah its just for people who like being pretentious ;)

I just call them slopes, and I call it snow, not powder.

As for the colours, well thats just to signifiy the difficulty. They use that everywhere. Green is usually the easiest, then it goes blue, then red and black (I don't think that really varies, but I could be wrong)

Been alpine skiing since I was nine and then switched to telemarking when I was 15 and have been doing that ever since. Am 22 now.

Definitely my favorite sport.

You n0ob. Powder is fresh snow, it slides better, you find it in the mornings or in untocuhed slopes. Snowboarding was created for that.

I tryed black onces, its very tiering for your knees.

Regardless of what powder is, where it comes from and the timing of precipitation...I still call it snow.

heh, when I first tried downhill skiing I got to a "black" slope by accident. I just took it easy and took slow small steps downhill. It was kind of humiliating when I saw this about 7 year old kid who passed by me with full speed... :(

I never skiyed (thats the word?)

looks fun but a litle dangerous too

snowboarding....no, cuz theres is not snow in my country
but are big sand places where the poeple make sandbording or something like that,if I go that place again I maybe will try it

I have been skiing for 6 years now although I am not nearly as good as you would think after that amount of time. I really enjoy it though.

I have also gone snowboarding twice, first time was painful but fun near the end of the day while the second time I actually started to realize why so many people enjoy it.

Ay. I have been skiing for longer then I remember. I was pretty good, but not as much anymore... Been years since I went very often.

Tried picking up snowboarding a couple years ago. Only been about 20 times. I like it though. Not very good. It's fun, but for pure speed I go ski. Skiing style? Obviously downhill racin' style.

I'd like to go more often, but with workin and schoolin and all... kills my free time. I'd like to get a season pass, go twice a week or something...

Any good ski in Canada?

You mean places? You might like Whistler. Largest in Canada, tons of powder because it's near the coast.

Other places that aren't bad are Big White, also in BC like Whistler, and Sunshine Village which is in Banff, Alberta.

I've never been skiing or snowboarding but I'd certainly like to try someday.

I love Whistler/Blackcomb. Especially Blackcomb. Some of the best skiing I've experienced.
