Do you think there should be a demo?

you should make a poll with 2 options YES&NO.

my vote is no.

Hmmm Uplink, my first taste of HL, Updating it to source, having Kleiner as the scientist at the start with Barney, dunno about the putting combine in, maybe they could upgrade the original Grunt models to a higher quality? I cant remeber, but were there Alien grunts in the Uplink demo?

No, absolutely no demo. That wouldn't be Valve style, let alone Half-Life style.

no, but there were military turrets.
EDIT: and no, no demo. hl2's too good [hopefully] to be ruined by a demo. plus, once i'de finished the demo, i'de probably end up commiting suicide waiting for the damn thing after actually playing it.

I dont think there should be a demo pre-release because it'll ruin half life 2 in a way you dont know at the moment. The last game i was so excited about was MGS2 (Metal Gear Solid 2) and that had a demo and even though it was amazing it would of been better without a demo. Just wait, it will come and you wont care if there was'nt a demo.

I remember Uplink! Great demo that was. For those of you that don't know, its not part of the original HL game at all, but rather ties in with it like Op4 and Blue Shift do. I think you need to read that summary of HL that was posted somewhere the other day - that explains the Uplink (which I think suggests you don't play as Freeman in the demo).

I don't want to see a pre-release demo because that would spoil the game. Altho I'd be happy with a small room, a couple of objects and the manipulater AND NOTHING ELSE! Valve would be smart to make a post-release demo tho, because not everyone knows about Half-life, or perhaps feels intimidated by it. Those that haven't played HL1 will certainly feel less inclined to play the sequel because they've missed a lot. If Valve tease people with a small demo that relates in the same way Uplink did, I can see a lot of people playing it (including those that bought the full game already).

I've read somewhere that Uplink was cut from the full version of Half-Life and that the door to Uplink is on some map in the third chapter (c3aX maps), but it's locked or something like that...

I don't want a demo of HL2 - I want the benchmark!

I think a demo or some sort would be good. I definatly want to see what Half Life² looks like on my system.
