If you want to build muscle lift weights you can barely handle :)

Just what I heard, not pro advice or anything :P

You want to lift within the 8 - 12 rep range ideally, but it depends on the person. And you want to lift a weight, so that by the third set of reps, the last few reps are extremely hard to complete. You also have to over eat as well. But since November 16th, i have gained over 1 stone of solid muscle :).

Free weights, ever since I started using them my muscles have gotten much more toned, next spot to work on is abs :D

did the release of hl2 inspire you :p

For real strength training, I've heard about 8-9 reps on the first set, then how ever many you can on the subsequent sets. Also, don't stop lifting if you just feel kinda sore and tired, keep pumping until you literally cant lift it anymore. Hmmmm I'm not sure that came out how I wanted it, but oh well:E . Right now I'm just waorking on muscle mass, still got some fat to lose before I start toning. No point in having toned muscles if you cant even see em. Poor abs work so hard and never even get seen ;(

Yes, you train to failure, which means your muscles just jam up, and no matter how hard you try to squeeze them even more, they just won't move and you have to put the weight down. Some exercises, it can be difficult to get to the point, especially Squats.

Why do I suck at benching? ;(

Maybe I should do it more often :P
I do it enough to sustain the current level, but not enough to progress. Currently stuck at about 45-50 kg, been there for months. While I do progress a lot on the other stuff. With the chest press machine I can do 70 though, but machines are generally lighter.

yeah trying to do that with squats is brutal, I used to do that until I started taking all the supplements so I didn't have to

edit- had to get a quote cause someone posted seconds before me

used to be able to bench about 200 pounds back about five or so years ago, but I haven't tried any since then. So I have no idea how much I can do now, but probably a bit less. Not even sure how good being able to do 200 is. Oh well, not a competition.

is 200 when you max out? or do you rep at 200? Either way its good, most people do like 180-220 (those who weightlift anyway)

I train twice a day 6 days a week. 3 of those are weight sessions. I probably 1 rep max benchpress at around 130-140 but I haven't tested in a while. Generally speaking I think bench press is way overdone by gym meatheads. You look really ridiculous when you have a barrel chest and little chicken legs. A great exercise if you can get proper instruction is powercleans. It probably works the largest number of muscles of any lift. You're using your whole body. but be careful cause it's easy to hurt yourself with bad technique. Also good for the core is single arm db bench press because you have to stabilize the weight imbalance with your abdominals.

Ehh, I could only do it like 6 or 7 times back then before I was completely exhausted. Nothing special :-P

I didn't do much weight lifting or anything back then, but I did spend many months over the course of two years building a gigantic retaining wall on one side of my uncle's property, made out of railroad ties, and rebarb. Basically we had to excavate the area and flatten it out, then dig a bunch of areas to place deadmen railroad ties, while continuously overlapping them like we were making a huge brick wall, only made of railroad ties. We drilled holes in them, and took huge sledge hammers to pound in the rebarb spikes to fasten them all together.

Looks quite massive and impressive, and very sturdily built. So while I didn't do much weight lifting like a gym person might do, I did do alot of heavy lifting and hard labor, so maybe thats how I was able to bench so much at such a young age.

Since then though, i've grown kind of weaker, since I haven't been doing as much heavy work. Oh well, heh.

euhhhhhh, people are now boasting about how much they do :stare:

Its only natural. :P

Anyway, if it encourages people to do some more exercise, its all good. :)

exercise and visual masturbation are two different things... or perhaps they're not that different at all.

I use machines when I bench. Basically, benching is all I do. I run a lot though. Can bench about 65 free-weight, and about 85 machine. Yes, I am skinny and weak. :E
