Erm, if someone didn't, they wouldn't be here to say no.

I don't and I'm here to say no, what logic are you using MaxiKana?

im not either, but i ordered s0me! :p

thats odd, 3 people all voted no

Unless you really want to overclock or your buying an OEM CPU the thermal pad should be fine and there is no reason to buy thermal grease.

But if you do get some everyone reccomends arctic silver.

I would strongly suggest it, however I have had many PCs without it. Even if your not planning on overclocking, I would still pick some up especially if you use the stock heatsink/fan. It is just nice to help keep your processor cool.

There are thermal pads, but they're really just thermal grease with a bit of stiffener compound.

I used a pinprick of arctic silver 6 on my a64 3200 and it runs icy cool on stock.

OMFG!!!!!11 Do you have liquid nitrogen on that or something??!!?!

Nah just kidding. You could look into getting a better heatsink and maybe a more powerful fan and you could improve on those overclocks. Btw what CPU do you have?

Yes I have Arctic Silver 3 on mine. Havn't bothered buying a new tube yet since this one still has compound in it. =p
If they are not OCing, don't have a PrescHott CPU and don't want to get into reapplying it every year or so then I recommend using the pad. Otherwise why not use grease?! =p

Arctic Ceramique for me as it isn't conductive, and can easily be cleaned.

do u think its worth getting some artic silver for my 5700le pci it dosent have much compoud left that came with it and i dont have enough money to buy a gfx card right now currentlly i have it oced to 450/430

Yeah that's good stuff! I'm buying it when my AS3 runs out.

I wouldn't waste it on a 5700le. You should softmod it.

The latest artic silver that came out, I believe 5, is a bit erm...I don't know how to put this,

DANGEROUS.

Friggin' had my amd 64 in and I had to take the processor out real quick, when it came to remove the HS, the processor was literally "glued" onto the HS!. With a bit more force I removed the hs and I looked down and the processor slot is empty, I look on the bottom of the HS and bam! the sucker is attached to the bottom of it!!

I don't know what kinda damage that could've been done but let me tell you, i'll be damned if I ever use this stuff again.

When you want to take off the hsf, you should run a CPU intensive program for about half an hour to really heat up the processor and the arctic silver. This way, the hsf should come off alot easier

And if you twist the heatsink before pulling up then it might also help. FYI AS3 does the same thing. ;)
Not sure about Ceramique.
