Do you think Valve will ever make a DOD 2? Should be it be WW2? To be honest, I think WW2 is getting a bit tired in gaming. I don't think Valve could make a WW2 game that would bring something new to the table. Perhaps portraying another war like Vietnam War,Korean War, or a fictional war would be the way to go.

You must remember Valve is a very small company (comparatively) and can only split their resources in so many ways. They have staff dedicated full-time to continued work on Steam, Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2 as well as other games in the pipeline like Dota 2 and the next Half-Life and the current rumours about them going back to focusing on Counter-Strike. And as you said yourself there's pretty much no demand for WWII shooters any more. I don't think DoD 2 is a good idea in the current market. It would need something to make it stand out.

I'm not too happy about DOTA. I would have prefered a Counter-Strike 2 or Half-Life 3.
Check the frontpage. Valve apparently invited a bunch of CS pros to their HQ in August, maybe that has something to do with CS2? Total speculation.

The original DoD is my favorite WWII shooter ever, and I love DODS too, so I'd be happy as hell to see Valve make Day of Defeat 2. I highly doubt that has any chance of happening anytime soon though, if ever.

Same here. DODS is probably my second favorite WWII shooter right after MOHAA. It's a shame it doesn't get very much support though.

Or they could just release Source Film maker!

I don't have the source, but Gabe said a year or so ago that valve is reworking hammer to be more user-friendly. When they finish that and release it, I'm guessing they'll also release movie maker.

I know its sacrilegious to say this, but the first call of duty game, in my humble opinion, is the best ww2 game ever. Mind you this is before the call of duty franchise went to hell.

Source Film Maker has been finished since before TF2 was shipped. They accidentally released it before with the TF2 pre-release beta. You can get a copy of it working through non-legal means.

Nothing sacrilegious about that! COD and COD2 are both fantastic WWII shooters. The series didn't start going downhill until COD3.
