I havent been able to find any info on Day of Defeat: Source. Will it be a straight port to source or will they start from scratch and create DoD 2? Any info/rumours would be appreciated

it sounds a LOT like DOD2.... there are vehicles...
There are no vehicles because its an infantry only game...so far. And i heard it should be released a few months after hl2.

yes but any news what it'll contain? I hope it doesnt have vehicels, it would spoil the game IMO

i agree, no vehicles. ive played battlefield and other ww2 games with vehicles. they just didnt have a very good feel to them. dod = best ww2 game

i dont really wish for a dod:s, im really just wanting dod2

I think valve said they would release info about TF2 after HL2 is released. So i guess they will do the same for DoD:S.

DOD:S isnt a port like HL:S and CS:S... they are adding new content, and vehicles were even mentioned...

I find when you stop talking from your ass people respect you more.

You're randomly making up information without any proof whatsoever. It's not a smart thing to do.

Read this thread for all the official, confirmed information http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=37189

As far as we know, it IS A DIRECT PORT. With pretty graphics added.

Yeah, I remember reading somewhere that DoD:s will be released quite awhile after hl2.

They are toying with the idea of vehicles. It's a lot like DOD2. They are keeping it secret to BOOST the wow factor. They will prolly sell is as a standalone as well as a free DL.

IT will WOOP THE SILLY crap out of CSs so they don't want to steal the CS thunder. Get it?

I'd disagree with saying Dod is the best WW2 game, i enjoyed play RTCW : Enemy Territory. I thought that game (which is free) was pretty amazing, i still play it now and again. The maps and game play are very nice. Im not saying its the best though, i think theres still room for improvement on WW2 games, and dod:S MIGHT fill that gap :afro:

what I get from cliffe in an email:

BTW, what I'm referring to in this email thread with you is the lack of
DoD: Source information we've been putting out. Most everybody from the
DoD team is busy jamming on CS:S right now. We'll release new DoD:S info
sometime later. A couple people on the hl2.net forums are reading too
far into my statements...

that about says it all :p

sounds like a direct port I think, probably well done like CS:source

thanks Sh33py

hmmm it sounds a little weird ...DoD is big in the hl community you'd think more people would demand to know what's going on

I'm too lazy to dig up links, but I've seen statements that the DoD team made saying that they'd never add vehicles on the scale of games like battlefield 1942. From what I understand there is a possibility of seeing vehicles in DoD in the future, but they'd play a pretty minor role.

Personally I like the decision to leave mass vehicle support out of DoD. I like the style of DoD as it is now. I'm sure if they enabled vehicles though, there'd be plenty of custom maps that take full advantage of them, so I guess there'll be a little something for everyone.

I think maybe in bigger maps, some transportation would be nice.
But no tanks or aircraft etc..

That's a good point, although I think the big maps need to be left out of DoD. The small close quarters fast paced infantry action is the whole appeal behind DoD. Big maps would only spread things out and totally change the pace and style of the game.

Yeh I would like to see CoD-style maps, like little houses, streets and meadows, not BF1942-style, with miles of forrests to explore :)

I think it'd be ok to have a couple vehicles... like being able to drive that wierd motorcycle thing in merderet.

With all the lag in CSS with shots not registering almost as bad as CS 1.6 i hope DOD Source won't be ruined by the lagg. Maybe its just a beta but still... I guess we can hope...

This game is no fun what so ever, the foucus too much on realism, and what they forgot was, war is not fun.

You might not like it, but I thought it was fantastic.

i hated dod, but id love to play it in source!
Errmm you'll most likely hate it in source as well. Unless you're just a graphics whore.

'Ello Reaperman! Never seen you around here...DoD Source had an interview a while back. It was long, complicated, and didn't say a thing we didn't already know.
