Now when you get a silver or gold package, you get to play dod:s. But my question is when you actually buy one of these packages, will it be ready to play? like have they been secretly working on it and when hl2 is available dod:s will be finished or do we have to go through a beta test stage like cs:s and wait for it to be completed? If it has been done why are there no media about it? And if it isn't done, then silver is a pretty bad package becuase your paying for a game that you cant even play yet.

--on a diff note, my 2 cents on the mod remakes
I dont mind paying for cs:s or dod:s separet, the old version of it should be free but i honestly think they should charge for dod:s and cs:s because they spent lots of man hours remaking the game, remodeling the guns, players, and making all the textures just so you could play with new graphics. People seem to think that valves owes them for the "New" version when they don't. It's not free for them to remake these games, it takes thousands of valves own money to fund the remaking of these games and people expect them free. Valve dont owe you JACK. Your lucky they are doing this for FREE already. It just shows how valve is dedicated to making its fans happy and just truly enjoys developing games by remaking these old mods into new, beautiful looking games for free. just my 2 cents.

and on the same note, valve does owe us cs:source for free. they said hl2 would have a multiplayer, and cs:source is it. if they didnt' release cs:source for free it would be ridiculous. it would be like battlefield releasing their single player and multiplayer seperately.

I am personally eagerly awaiting DoD: Source... but, don't want to purchase one of the HL2 packages via Steam. I would rather by the Standard Edition (as stated recently), so I can have the CDs and install whenever and wherever I want.

That brings up the next question, how will DoD: Source be released to those who do not buy the Silver or Gold Steam Packages? Will it be a free download if you have already purchased HL2 or will it require extra payment?

I wouldn't mind paying for DoD: Source since I know it takes a lot to make a game, especially one that is that caliber.

DoD 1.3 has been port to source and runs, but its not in a form they would like to release it in (or even show screenies of). When we do see DoD:S is will be more like 1.4 ie morters, but there probly won't be driverable tanks and the like as thats a hugh change in game play.

Read this thread to get the lastest news about DoD:S.

Does that mean CE owners don't get DoD: Source?

No one really knows that yet. Wait for valve to say something.

No they do not, as it won't be ready to ship with the CE. And for all we know activision may hold a contract with valve to publish DoD games.

I'm sure it's not too close to being complete. But I am waiting too.

Unless the Silver steam edition costs more than the CE retail I sure as hell better be able to get dod:s when it is finished as a part of my purchase. I don't mind downloading it later, but my cd:key for hl2:CE should entitle me to it. I wish i could get the steam GOLD pack but still get the DVD hardcopy like CE.

It's certain that Vivendi have nothing to do with Day Of Defeat at the very least. Activision published it when it came out so either they have the rights to it (and it would be illegal for Vivendi to make money off it by including it in the Collector's edition) or nobody has the rights to DoD:S (and it's just a Steam thing, or Activision are going to publish it later).

So, let me get this straight.

If i buy the Top of the line edition from the store, i will have to pay for dod:source when it comes out? So the top of the line version from stores is actually not all that good at all?
