DoD: Source Videos

Dark Elf... I think mod teams can achieve high standards. Look at INS, HL:R, BG:S, etc. Also, did you know that the teams that created DoD and Counter-Strike were once "random mod teams" ?

You're making it sound like only the DoD team can make such a game.
of course I knew that.

But your comparing a team who have access to in house software, who've been working on the engine for a long time (CS/HL2) with mod teams who for the most part haven't even made a mod before (points at the editing forum for proof)

not to mention the time they've had to work on DOD:S. None of the good mods are gonna be done in a short time at the same level as that. Can't rush quality, thats obvious.

why does everyone have to be so pessimistic about this? Its a friggen beta. Dont even say "It looks the same as regular DoD" Yeah, the models and guns are almost the same, but the develops said this before the release....they will look like CS:S models once its retail. If you actually stop being so negative about the whole thing, you'll notice that the map details, sounds, and graphics are a hell of a lot better

Maybe they should have released that statement with the pictures, since I'm not a DoD fanboi and don't closely follow everything developers say.

THEY'VE SAID THAT DoD SOURCE IS GOING TO BE A STRAIGHT PORT TO BEGIN WITH FFS!!!!!RTFF (read the ****ing forum)

DOD forum read it

You need to read what Waldo has to say, 90-95% is straight port. Therefore their will be some differences.

Wow, that looks exactly the same as DoD:Unsource. If they are gonna make it better, I don't really realize why they released that video. And if they aren't gonna make it better, what about that really cool screenshot I saw a while back? :(

They are having a beta test to get out some bugs, there will be new player models I hear maybe weapon models, when the game is officially released.

also, is this a legal release (the videos) because it seems to me that 2 days ago there was basically a "nobody is allowed to release anything" rule being enforced...

Got an email on Feb-23-2005 for the DOD:S beta testers:

"At this point we are lifting the restriction of images and information on the Beta. Feel free to post info, screenshots, videos, whatever. I don't think I need to say NOT to post actual content from the game. ..."

Its pretty cool, plenty of fun to be had.
