does anyone know if NPC's will use manipulator guns as well?

it would be cool if not totally hilarious if your fellow resistance fighters or even combine had manipulator guns as well...think about the sheer chaos of tables and chairs being thrown from every direction...
 
I doubt it. I think we'll find that the Manipulator is some freaky experimental gun the resistance put together with their limited resources, and it's a one-off. Just a theory.
 
As far as I know from spoilesr

(not that major really, pretty obvious when you think about it)
Dr. Kleiner created the manipulator, so there is only one
 
I also assume that there will only be one Manipulator in all of City 17.

Having chairfights with Combine sounds fun though :).
 
well maybe the g-man will have one and we'll go into a toe to toe manipulator gun fight!!!!

who the hell knows...but, it would be dope if this gun were used by other npc's...

Not by choice, no. Unless you count the intro to Fresh Prince of Bell Air (however you spell it).

I think the manipulator is a one time deal, like the gluon gun and the gauss gun were experiments, and ended up being a 1 person has it only type of gun.

dude... I don't listen to hip hop, but you can't deny that it's culture/ lingo hasn't infiltrated every major facet of current
pop culture...and no, anyone who listens to death metal or the band creed deserves to die...
 
There's a screenshot of Alyx holding the Manipulator gun. Maybe she demonstrates it to Gordon?
 
Thanks for that we11er, i had a feeling about that, i didn't see anything on it, i just guessed it, thx for the confirmation. I saw a screenie with alyx holding the manipulator, but this could just be before Gordon gets it perhaps?
EDIT: yeah same thing as the guy said above hehe :E

Dont confuse hip hop with the crap they have been calling it for the last 5 years.

Old schoolhip hop, creative music, energy, is the what he refers to ( i hope)

I just got san andreas today. amazing game for those who are into the GTA universe. The interesting thing is, the sound track is fairly accurate and quite nice. Havent heard and hardcore gangsta crap, heard some cypress hill, ohio players funky worm and some old 91 tupac stuff.

This better help kill time til nov 16

the manipulator is "liberated" combine technology possibly with modifications by kliner or eli

I highly doubt that any npcs will have it simply because of the ai that would be requiered and the drain on cpu...
 
Not so related, but y'know the manipulator is supposed to be able to pick up only lightish stuff (ie no enemies), well what about headcrabs?
I'd love to be able to catch a headcrab in mid-air as it comes flying at me :D

I don't think it can pick up live things, I'm not sure. I'd be quite interested to see if you could fling dog around with it though. :E

I dunno if i'd like to see enemies chucking stuff around with a manipulator, that spider thing in doom 3 that threw those weird rocks around annoyed the hell out of me.
 
yer, i rekon there wil be only one aswell... maybe just an experiment by some mad scientist!

mods for hl2 are gonna own. im sorry..but i want the game SOOO much...but also the mods... SHH BIFFFTY!!!!!

lol....i had visions of something simmilar, involving NPCs.

I have this fascination with rag dol physics...and them flying through the air..they look awsome. Ive played Second Sight you see..and being able to make people levitate owns. there must be a mod soon for it that enable either the manipulator...or (we dont know if its in there) the psygun, to pick up ALIVE people..

you got a laugh out of me for that one. and to stay on topic, i dont think npcs will use manipulators.
 
Well... I doubt the AI would have a problem... does anyone remember those mage guys from Painkiller that threw things at you, manipulator-style?
 
not a spoiler, just my belief, but I'll use spoiler tags just to keep the peace...

I believe that this is one of the only secrets that Valve has managed to keep secret about. I believe there will be an enemy that use "similar" technology... something that involves the use of physics in giving damage just like we'll be doing to the enemy throughout the whole game...

You can use the manipulator on live things, asgabe or sombody confirmed it can be used on the birds.

Whether another npc uses one is totally unknown to myself
 
Well, denlife7, we already know that zombies will peg barrels and stuff like that at you...

I agree, and one of them has a bug up his arse...
 
It would be boring if your enemies or NPC'S at all would have it too because you would lose the advantage to throw grenades back to them ( seen on a video , E3 maybe not sure) and stuff. And I also think that it is an experimental gun.
