does christmas music make you sad?

i totally miss them :(

/me goes and sobs for days gone past

Christmas music makes me nausious(sp?) and tired. For some reason I feel sick to my stomach if I listen to it for too long. During our family christmas parties I have to go outside for some cool air otherwise I'd be hurling something vile.

damn all you christmas haters. how do you hate christmas? its not just a wal-mart ploy, its been around for quite a few years ;]. i'm sure some 4th century roman was complaining that the winter solstice festival was just some ploy. i guess it just depends upon how you were raised with it. i was raised with big familys, 15 or 20 people all in the house hanging out. now its just the 4 or whatever of us drinking egg nog (with some bourbon in it, of course).

and yes, i am confusing it with nostalgia. but nostalgia is typically sad/melancholy.

Whoa, actually it used to make me really sad. When i was about 12 years old i remember hearing Christmas music and feeling this heavy feeling of guilt. Probably something to do with me getting gifts and not giving to others. I felt like I needed to goto the homeless shelter and volunteer. Which brings another subject up..... maybe ill post that subject in the forums.

I'm usually jolly when I hear christmas songs.

Personally, I like good Christmas music- emphasis on good. "The Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole (and later by Mel Torme) is such a good song... great melody, just perfect. It gets me all romantic and happy.

i l00ve christmass songs, but yes, some are less gay

Hymns kindof depress me. I love the music, but the lyrics suck.

I love old christmas songs. Its the only kind of music that makes me feel like sitting in front of a roaring fire in the dead of winter while sipping on hot cocoa.

Absolutely love that feeling.

I love Christmas! Everything about it, from corny decorations to sad old songs, to the repeats of laurel and hardy at 4am and the christmas episodes of programs you'd never normally watch and not forgetting garfield christmas specials to gifts to eating far too much to just being able to get away with reverting to your childhood and being far too happy to be sane for atleast a few days every year.

I just hate New Years, its like Christmas with all the cool stuff taken out of it and the realisation that thats yer lot for another year.

You could not have described it in a better way. I also like christmas...my mother decorates the house each year...it takes her 2 months to complete the decorations...she starts on Halloween, and goes to about december 2...yeah we have a lot of christams stuff...probably the biggest for several blocks...we don't decorate the outside too much..just the inside...and it's mostly lights. I also don't like new years...I don't really care about it. It just means that humanity has survived for another year.

As for the topic of thread: Yeah...sometimes it's kind of depressing but not really sad...just old memories of the good days.

yes when it is played in farking october.....

if everyone is pissed and a good one comes on tho :p everyon is in the mood for hilarity:)

The only christmas song I listen to is Fairytail of Newyork which doesn't make me sad.
