Ill start by asking plz dont flame me! (Iv seen ppl flamed for less then this!)
lol

Any way, is CS:CZ using the same engine as hl2?
thx

nope, i believe it uses hl1 engine + some advanced stuff from like DoD retail

No it is actually an enhanced HL1 engine so it'll basically have increased poly counts on the models and better quality textures. It's basically a glorified CS add on and it'll be backward compatible with the current versions and will incorporate the new feautres into the current version but minus some of the nicer new graphics.

Don't worry about being flamed, D33 is on the case and making sure no one is nasty to new people. I'll be making sure anyone being an ass to poor defensless "n00bs omfg u r teh sux at teh intarweb" ;) like yourself will get reported too so don't worry.

No, it uses the hl1 engine but they say they're "pushing it to the limit"

The figures look very similar in quality to those you get with the High level patch for HL that comes with Blue Shift (the Barney standalone).

Pushing it to the limit? Maybe back when Ritual was developing CZ, but once again, VALVe switched developers. Turtle Rock Studios finished it up, and it was supposed to go gold (Or did? they never gave out a press release). Sure, they re-textured all the current maps, but there are no new weapon or player models.

Go read the hands on preview at csnation, it's sad, really. Some of Ritual's work will be included in the "Deleted Scenes" part of the game, but the meat of the newest incarnation of CZ is "tony hawk style gameplay", whereas you compete against bots and earn points for doing special stuff, such as using pistols only.

I was looking great forward to Ritual's work on CZ, but apparently VALVe was looking at the community's reponse to CZ when they flamed the living daylights out of it, so they changed it back to partial-Gearbox style gameplay, minus the pretty graphics and single player story line mode =( Oh well.

On a side note, the version that got leaked was Ritual's work that VALVe had changed around.. since then, they had turtle rock finish it up and only included some of Ritual's work, like I said. However, Ritual had a 100% polished version that will never see the light of day due to the fourth developer switch
