does HDR impact fps much?

Depends on your system. But for me, yes, big impact.

You're probably going to see something of a drop in the FPS because you're video card has HDR to render extra, which can cause the drop..

like ppl have said above it depends on your system but its not demanding. it isnt for me i play source games maxed.

Even for the biggest systems you can feel a difference (perhaps not on the VERY biggest dual GPU systems but I think so). I can feel it on my x1800xt but its not very bad.

I am running a GeForce 7800GT and I cannot determine a performance difference.

On an ATi X700 PCI-e, I can't tell much difference in performance with or without HDR.
