yes aftermath and lost coast including all future source games will have hdr read up on this stuff its all over this forum

Instead of designing a completely new engine Valve's new strategy is to add incremental new features over a period of time to the existing Source ENGINE. So that by the time HL3 will be released, the engine will be vastly different.

Maybe changed so it looks a little more like the pokemon engine??:p

Let's drop the Pokemon engine idea, shall we?

In my opinion, Valve will try to make Half-Life 3 differ graphically from Half-Life 2 as much as Half-Life 2 differed graphically from Half-Life 1. New engine anyone?

No, we won't frop the pokemon engine:bonce: because... it PWNS!!!

Back on-topic, no I don't think they will make the make hl3 differ to hl2 like hl2 did to hl1. Even in..let's say 5 years, I don't think that's possible. Keep in mind: Half Life 2 has been out in a year, and it is still no games that looks better!:D

It was for Half-Life 2. Why not HL3?

I'm sticking to mah opihniohn.

Remember the iup interview I think it was, Valve at 5 teams working.

1) Steam
2) Day of Defeat Source
3) Half Life 2 Aftermath
4) Team Fortress 2

is the fifth team working on HL3?

They put 3 or 4 years into Source. They will just upgrade source to be on track with the ones out at that time.

Half-Life 3 will be a huge project :p I bet Mr. Laidlaw has all the story down flat at this time though...

it would be pointless to make a new engine for hl3 after all the work they did on the source engine which is upgradable

Yeah, like Doom3's brilliant story. :) And every level will be completely different and unique, too, with interesting enemies who don't just walk and shoot.

Ohhhh, I HOPE every surface in Aftermath is made out of plastic, please please please :bounce:

Nope its the same. Dont think they want to make a new one, its already good enough.

Yep.

The Half-Life2 engine runs 10 times better on my PC than any comparable game on my PC. This is a superior game ENGINE - powerful, yet efficient. Thats why everyone went ape-sh$# over it.

They eventually released Light sourcing for HL2 owners with high-end PC's.

The main game engine including the physics engine is the perfect framework. Yes they can upgrade it by adding more effects.

This is a hugely useless post. Theres already two pages of answers, why bump it? There is no reason to.

I hadn't checked this forum in months. I wasn't even aware that there was a Half-Life2 expansion coming and i got all excited. :sniper:

but it caught my eye being at the top of the list, so i guess i didn't bump it after all.

On a half life 2 forum, a half life expansion is going to get alot of hits. why not close this one though, since its been answered

I wasn't referring to you, infact your post is the single reason why MGT whatevers post was not deleted. You have every right to post in this thread. And you are right. Closure time.
