The Pilot episode wasn't up to much but the second one was much improved. Anyone else following this?

I have it open and loaded in another window. I'll watch it when I feel like it!

I watched the first ep and thought it was just okay, but pilots are often weak episodes I've found. Still glad to hear the second ep is better.

I watched the second episode. Meh, it was better. I'll see what the next one brings.

I was never a fan of the Buffy stuff, but I enjoyed Angel & Firefly and although the Dollhouse seems a bit lame as a place (looks like the reused the set of the Wolfram & hart), that they've started to use flashbacks to reveal things I'm liking.

It looks very promising, will keep an eye on it.

Forgot about it, that's the new Whedon show, right?

Yup. A whole bunch of quality Whedon veteran actors in it, as well as a couple of Galactica's.

Awesome, gonna start watching it online now.
edit: Decent show, it's a little slow though.
Slower than some of Whedon's earlier work atleast.

Shit, Yorick likes it but Samon doesnt... NOW HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT I SHOULD THINK?!

hahaha. We have rather different taste in movies and shows overall, actually. I'm always right though. I mean, I like Firefly. And Samon likes Lost for God's sakes. HELLO.

We agree on Lost in Translation being the best movie ever though.

Name one bad thing about Saving Private Ryan. It got 11 nominations...LiT only got 4.

It's got Nathan Fillion in it:

On Firefly he played Mal. Mal translates as bad. Therefore Nathan Fillion is a bad thing in SPR.

Bill Murray was in freaking Space Jam. Scarlett Johansson was in Home Alone 3. Touche.

Your opinion isn't going to be swayed by what I think of the movie, so why derail the thread further?

Seeing Mark Sheppard in Dollhouse was amazing. I loved him in Firefly and BSG.

3rd episode was pretty decent. Show is building up nicely, though they need to do more with the FBI guy who seems to be floundering a bit.

I do like this show indeed. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Third episode was pretty good.

It's no Firefly, but I'm not sure why everyone seems to hate this show

I think Post-LOST there is an assumption by people, that unless a shows Pilot hits it out of the park from the off, then by and large a show will suck. Strange perception tbh, because generally most pilot episodes are fairly mediocre because they are just platforms to introduce the characters, and the actors are breaking in the characters like a new pair of shoes.

Fringe had a weak pilot episode as well, but it's grown in stature ever since.

The ultimate example of a (seemingly) weak pilot episode is Babylon 5. Look at how that turned out.

I thought Fringe started shitty and went to completely goddamn terrible, but I do get your point.

Perfect example.

I hate how they're trying to make Topher a Kaylee-esque character.
He is not funny, he looks and sounds like a god damn retard whenever he tries to make a joke.

I think Fringe has really picked up tbh Yorick. It started off slowly, but once the bald guy turned up (about the 4th episode or so) things took an upswing.

He actually reminds me of Wash more than Kaylee, but yeah, he's not spectacular either way.

Maybe I'll end up giving it another shot.

Yeah. Helo from BSG is pretty awesome in this, though his character has felt somewhat underused so far. I'm interested to see where it goes.

This show really does a great job, so far anyway, demonstrating what a great actress Eliza Dushku is. I hope it ends up being more than just "one season of portfolio work" for her, though.

So many critics seem to be hating on it already and I get the feeling that faith in Whedon is the only thing keeping a lot of people watching.

I watched the first three episodes, and its pretty meh so far. I think Eliza is a pretty shit actor. Plus shes got that whole horseface thing going on. Everything just doesnt seem natural with her, and when I watch the I just can't get into it when shes on screen doing anything because she is trying too hard to act.

Plot is alright though, and I do like the concept. And it is Whedon, so I guess im one of those people who will keep watching it in hopes he will kick it into high gear.
