One the worst things I've ever been through. I started getting symptoms last Tuesday which was just a few chills. By Wednesday I had joint ache, headache and tiredness to go along with it. That was bad enough but yesterday I started developing symptoms that are affecting my respitory system like a chesty cough, sore throat, sneezing, blocked nasal passages. Now not only do I feel terribly tired but I can't bloody sleep because I can't breath properly. I woke up this morning with some intense stomach pains too, rather worrying, but they've since subsided.

This feels the closest I've ever been to death.

Just getting over a cold myself. Wasn't too bad but was not feeling very well lately nonetheless. On your note of death thou, closest I've felt was having severe food poisoning. Just horrible. Could not sleep and had terrible diarrhea. Became very dehydrated and had to get up about every 15 mins to run to the toilet. Went on for about 3 days. Was not a fun experience at all.

First time I got flu, like proper flu (not just a strong cold), I was playing paintball with some punters on a day off. Came back and was drinking a bottle of water, and suddenly my head started spinning so I sat down, then my body just ached all over and I felt sick.

I went home and took some ibuprofen or something, and generally put up with it the last few hours of the day.

The next morning, I literally couldnt move out of bed. My sheets were soaked from getting the sweats and chills overnight, and my body just felt destroyed. I couldnt bend over without sounding like an old man, I could barelyget out of a chair, loss of appetite, sky high temperature and I could feel my body just pumping out heat and I was so red. God it was horrible.

And same here, I felt like I was dying.

i've just recovered from a sore throat and cough. not the worst i've had, but still its shit, i missed a bit of school, had to catch up. failed my french test because of it.

I actually passed out once owing to an intense flu. That fainting was cool, though

Your chesty cough bit sounds like walking pneumonia. I've been diagnosed with that condition twice now, and it's not fun at all.

If I were you, I would go see a doctor and get yourself checked out if you can afford it, and get yourself prescribed some antibiotics.

I thought flu is easy. For Asians, we just rest a few days and everything is fine. Most of the times we don't take antibiotics. Sometimes we don't see a doctor at all. I have heard that non-Asians are more vulnerable to influenza.

Well typically with a flu I just ride it through, but when you start getting some respiratory problems and other issues that make you worry and you don't seem to start getting better, it's time to see a doctor.

Had proper flu twice in my life, once when I was about 7 and again at the end of last year.

It's horrible. My mum didn't believe I was ill and practically forced me to get out of bed. Then I went back to bed. :E

I went to bed feeling like death after about the 3rd day, woke up in the morning and was completely fine. It was really weird, but hope I never get it again.

Waking up after either a cold or flu is really shit cuz you know the rest of the day is ****ed.

I hate you, I'm already somewhat of a hypercondriac :(

Flu's can actually be the signs of a disease. i remember reading in a health magazine what you think is a cold or flu is the 1st signs of a bad disease. Also Flu's suck and thankfully I rarely get them. last time i was sick was over a year ago thank god

Ah, right, so I've probably got Cancerous AIDS with a sprinkling of Ebola?

I'm also somewhat of a hypochondriac. But, when you get sick like that, you really need to be able to assess how sick you think you are, or have someone else try and do that for you(a doctor for example), and then do something about it.

Most illnesses like that will go away on their own as the body fights them, but some will stick around for a long time, and may further impact your health as a result.

It's only a mild case of death.
It will pass in due time.
