...but my Radeon 9700 Pro just died...after 2 long joyous years and one friggin' day before HL2 comes out. It had a gigantic Zalman cooler and I had moderately oc'd the GPU, but nooooo...it had to fry its untouched memory (well up 4 MHz from 310 is about nothing). Now I'm using the good old Geforce 2 I used to play Half Life with...and I've no cash for a new card. This is gonna be a cold winter. Oh well...it actually runs Doom3 at 20 fps on minimum settings :bounce: Maybe it'll run HL2 too... :rolling:

Why try to overclock a card that doesn't handle overclocking as well as other cards?...The GPU Shim also can make it hard for good heat transfer...

You're telling me you have no money whatsoever? I mean, you couldn't have gotten that 9700 recently...right? If you did, bad choice.

Warranty my friend, and if I am not mistaken, ATi doesn't make 9700's anymore, so you might get a 9800 ;)

ya but that didnt stop me from RMA my memory. And guess what they gave me some new rev 2. I love this rev 2. I havent had a problem with it yet.

Hehe the game runs like a mofo on a Geforce 2...unbelievable. With models set on HIGH...

It runs 50-60 fps on average and never gets under 25 fps...

wow

dude, thats one f****en nice geforce 2. my god you need to save that thing when you get a new one...

One name: Asus. Onboard Temp, voltage and rpm meter...factory drivers and software that enabled tweaking in 2000...I missed that on my Radeon.

Normally it's installed in a Windows98se based pc that I keep to play DOSgames and older games that don't run under XP like Realmyst or Tie Fighter 95. It's standing here next to my desk.
