Ok so a huge explosion occurs and u dont know what happens to anyone in the whole game, u dont know if they died....even if u die, but all of a sudden either concensiosly or in reality the gman shows up for the 3rd time in the game. I saw him previously on a TV in the apartments. and obviously they better make a hl3, im sure they are but someone help me understand the ending more, its like the matrix the gman uses huge words for me haha.

I know i'll catch a lot of flak and flame for it but the ending in my opinion was horrible, before you say it, I don't care about the 3rd installment, what I care about is doing all that work on that final "battle" and getting basically *NO* ending what so ever :( It pretty much ruined most of the expeirence for me.

Once again to all the kiddies, this is MY opinion, not yours, not bobs, not the dog nextdoor! This is my opinion so don't fly off the handle about it.

yea i dident really like the ending either. we wont see hl3 till god know when and we still dont know a thing about the gman

Yeah that was one of my biggest grumps about it, not knowing ANYTHING more than what we knew in HL1 about the G-MAN. Aside from that what in the hell happend to everyone, etc. etc. :)

I swear the Gman is all in gordons mind, somehow. thats why u never saw a clear picture of him....he was always black/white or have a wierd color effect on him.

You can actually see G-Man at least 9 places in the game..

I ment that he showed up the 3rd time for me, im sure he is in it somewhre else, can u gimme the locations so i can see plz?

Dear god did anyone else want to smack that biatch Gman with one of those Giant Propaganda spitting Tv's? I mean Screw working for Free **** that guy, I want to grab that chick and go live with the Robotic Dog in some bombed out City 17 Bunker, yea man , Thats the way it should have went down

speaking of dog, hes like the coolest character in that whole game, when he freaking picks that car up and chucks that onto the combine, taht was awesome, without a doubt, best pc game i ever played....i read that the outdoor enviroments were shitty looking, but i totally disagree, the only downfall is the lack of info on gman at the end.

Or you can watch the ending...

It's divx encoded and captured using Fraps. Fraps captures full frame, uncompressed avi's which kills framerate, since its writing 10+MB/s to the HDD while rendering and running the game. So, all setting are maxed out, except anti-aliasing which is turned off, to maintain a rate of around 30. I love the ending BTW.

MAJOR SPOILAGE!!!! DON'T WATCH IF YOU HAVE NOT BEAT THE GAME

I would like to have known a little more about the combine. We found out that they were from another galaxy, right? But what did they look like, and why did they come?

Oh, and I was a little disappointed about the monsters. Didn't really see anything besides antlions (and guards) and a lot of zombies.
Somebody talked about that fish-thing. I only saw that in the beginning with the teleporter.

There were more monsters in the first, but i think the combine were so cool...it could of been a good game even with just them. its cool how they kept the combine like the soldiers in hl1, they have a radio sound they make so u know when ur gonna fight some. and the combines sound is real cool

I hate to spoil it for you all but I'm 99.9% sure we will never have a definitive answer as to who the Gman is, he is a Mcguffin. We may be given many more hints as to who or what he is, but no answer will ever satisfy and so none should be given. Does it really matter who he is ? Now there are three questions I'd like answered:

Why does everyone speak english in an eastern european city ?
What do people do besides sitting around waiting to be sent to Nova Prospekt, or joining one side or the other ?
Why do the combine care about earth at all ?

The first is a little silly, but it is a little bothersome in a sense too. The second is what is really making my brain spin, it just doesn't make sense to have all these people sitting around idling waiting to die. The final question I don't mind it not being answered here, but it is definitely something I'd have liked a few more hints at.

These questions bother me because there is really no hint to them unless you look outside the game itself.

Yoo!! I know why they speakin english

Cuz its a game meant for english speakin ppl. Can u imagine if in the game they speakin all norwegian and wutever and what not.. it'd be just pointless.. readin subtitles and stuff and not knowin what in the world is goin on... so they HAVE to speak english so that WE as a gamer knows whats goin on

I'm sure for the Japanese version they're prolly all over there like, "What the crap? these eastern euro'z are speakin Japaneze"

ya.. so thats my 10 cents ;) hehe :afro:

lol at norway in eastern europe

And no it's not for english speaking people, that's what the localizations are for. It's purely for gameplay reasons. It would just feel silly if you had to read everything in subtitles.

Wsh! that is exactly what I meant to say.. but seeing as how its 4:00 am... I am feeling about as smart as a brick wall.. which is why u got that jibberish of what I put earlier. Anyway, my point being.... you got it right on, brutha! :)

Let me restate then: Why do all people appear to speak the same language ?

Though as I said initially it is a rather unusual question to start with, one could suggest that Gordon knows whatever language they are speaking, or that it was required to speak this one language, or it could be that they moved all these people here for a reason, and all these people speak english.

accualy, i beleive you do see the combine, in Nova prospekt or however you spell it, theres a room with a camera, not sure which one, but its showing a stalker, if you push e on it again, theres what i think is a combine, everything is stripped off except for his pants (which does look like the pants they wear)

Actually, I thought they were from another dimension? I might be confused on that.

We saw something of the Combine in he holoviewer when we confronted Breen. Very bizarre sluglike thing with one giant eye, if I recall correctly. Hard to make out much more than that.

Also, in Nova Prospekt, Breen is speaking to the soldiers there, and seems to say that they are in fact genetically engineered or something-like-that humans (the people in the suits who you kill) in service of the Combine.

Yet when you're riding the pod through the alien tower and getting the grand tour so to speak, you see a lot of bizarre looking humanoid-species people doing menial labor. So were they the same engineered breed as the Combine soldiers, or were they another race the combine enslaved, or are they one of the Combine themselves?

Also, about 2/3 of the way through you hear one of Dr. Breen's speeches, he seems to imply that the Combine is some kind of Federation rather than a single race. Again, that's a matter of interpretation, as I can't remember exactly what he said.

Another universe. Breen says it while he's riding his little bubble to the top of the portal.

You see the gman talking with scientist in Half-Life 1 and in Half-life 2 he talks with your friends. Seem him about 4-5 times in hl2.

Yeah i found the creature breen is talking to using noclip and im sure the combine look similar but obviously smaller ehe. i also found the gman and blew his brains out with a shotgun.

Perhaps Dr. Breen, since he speaks English and is the overlord of Earth, decreed that everyone speak nothing but English.

Those little black camera things that fly around everywhere and flash bright lights in your face until you shoot them? They actually whip out spinning blades and attack if they hear any non-English words being used.

:E :upstare:

I just witnessed the strange ending 1 minute ago and i really dont know what to think. Valve really ****s with your mind and everything is so damn hard to figure out.

But i must say that the 2 last chapters was shit, not very fun to run around with some crazy gravity-gun that can kill everything instantly or in a maximum of 3 shots from those energy balls.

Also the game is very short! I thought there were atleast 3 more great hours when all of a sudden the credits appeared...
