How long does a guy need to wait to get a poll around here?!

Some planetary disaster. Only one black hole would have to aim its gamma burst somewhere near us and all life here and in the surrounding solar systems is dead.

we will kill ourselves,we dont need fancy stuff like natural disasters or meteorites or even nukes,we will eliminate in some way or another and we will be the only ones to blame

We will exist until the end of the Universes (notice the plural).

Other - Something we won't predict, until it's too late.

It'll be laughable too.

Has anyone heard of the asteroid named Apophis by astronomers? Apparently, it is projected to hit the earth in 2029, if it hits the gravitational "keyhole" (as the msn article put it). If not, then in 2036. Unless they use some means of inching it away from that keyhole.

If, and when, it hits us, it is estimated to cause some $400 Billion in damages, not to mention the inevitable gross loss of human life. While it won't completely destroy everything, the subsequent economic disaster could very well do us in.

Human kind has a penchant for self-destructive behaviour, and we are certainly destroying ourselves.
The question is, how are we doing it?

It's obvious people. Crab People are going to take us over soon.

I heard those same stats on some TV show about asteroids. We have until 2013 to figure out what to do.
The chance of it hitting the keyhole is very small however and our gaging instruments are highly inaccurate.

Weve all seen that stupid flash Pulse. It... is funny. When you first watch it.

Anyway, I still believe that if we dont stop using the damned trees for everything, were just gonna suffocate ourselves, Soon enough.

Trees=Oxygen
CO2= Bad.
Trees+CO2=Oxygen
Oxygen= :D

HAHA! WE CALIFORNIANS WILL BREAK OFF AND GO CHILL WITH HAWAII. Alaska can come too. :)

lol at the link, such BS, even if it does happen, the world will become a better place and our fertility would come back.

Sorry for me jumping in on the conversation a little late but I personally think that is going to be Global Warming or something to do with the environment is going to cause the world to come to an end. Considering the fact that it is January and we have had absolutely no snow this year (Virginia) It is not even cold enough here to snow it was warm enough today for me to wear short sleeves! But again with all of the world conflicts in air right now there is a good possibility that the end of the world could be between human or chemical parts.

I think it's fair to say that breeding presently isn't a problem given the expodential rate at which the worlds population is growing. If nothing we need to cut down on the baby making because we are rapidly running out of sustainable food resources.

I think Solaris has been knocking back the shandy again.

I don't think the fertility thing will happen. Well, very slim chance it will.

Global warming wont kill us. We've lived through it before, can do it again.

Same goes for global cooling.

Asteroid... possible. But very slim chance.

Alien attack. Yes please :D

Self-destruction. Probably the most probable out of the lot. I mean theres enough nukes on this world to completly wipe everyone out. But people wont use them because they're too afraid too.

I think we're going to live for a very very long time. Unless something kills us off. If not we'll just grow and grow, eventually we'll populate other planets and our chances of living even longer greatly increase. Unless the universes implode :)

Really, there will be some catastrophe, but it isn't likely to wipe out ALL human life. And those few humans who live will continue on, because we're like that, until we are forced to die from the earth becoming uninhabitable. I highly doubt the likelihood of expanding into space and onto other planets because of the massive amount of energy that is needed.

Colonising space is not a matter of possibility, but inevitability.
They're already planning how they're going to colonise and terraform Mars. I was born in the wrong era...three or four generations too early. *sigh*

I can say nothing at the ridiculousness of this statement. Do you realize how much energy it would take to "colonize and terraform" Mars? And here on Earth we are going to be struggling to find enough energy to run our "normal" activities soon, unless we get the 1 in a million "fusion" energy.

Talk to NASA.
Incidentally, a permanent moon base is planned for 2020. That also counts as colonisation.

The great thing about scientific breakthroughs that might solve our energy problem is the fact they're unexpected breakthroughs, patience young grasshopper :>

Erm, By the time the world ends, we'll all be dead.
LOL, screw you my great great great great grandchildren!

Oh... oh no, their coming.. FROM TEH FUTURE.. THEY saw my psot.. ojh gd.. someone help MERMEMEMEMEE...

Heh I just watched "Girl. Interrupted" for the first time a few hours ago on TV and that song "Don't they know it's the end of the world?" was there. /random fact

Well if history has taught us anything, the planet will continue to exist long after our own demise.
