you need to know in germany, in public transportation areas smoking is forbidden and you have to pay a fine if you're caught, what obviously was the case.

also: about 60-75% are "anti" smoking, that's democracy ;D and smokers have to deal with that.

Meh.... non-smokers have to deal with the smoke of those that do smoke. If you smoke on your porch or away from me I don't really care, but it sucks going home with your skin and clothes reeking of smoke, not to mention possible side-effects of prolonged exposure.

I'm aware of this. I just thought it was awesome the way he swatted that guy down.

The lesson to be learned from this isn't "Don't annoy smokers", but "Don't annoy or provoke physical contact with somebody twice your bulk, even if he is in the wrong."

Surely he could have taken it up with a nearby authority figure. Unlike slapping the dude's hand, he probably wouldn't have gotten owned.

He kept on yelling "Was ist?!". Literally translated it's "What is", but colloquially I'm guessing it means "What the ****?!".

Could be wrong. I'll ask one of my German buddies.
