Coming here and talking is fun but there isnt the same feeling in the air as there used to be. I remember before we got into the month of september and delay fears started getting rampant, everything was just fun. I was still on my summer holiday...a summer which was very nice indeed. Halflife2, what was set to be The greatest game of all time was coming out soon. A game that i had waited for for nearly a 3rd of my life. Everyone was speculating about the story and monsters...Fun stuff. They hype that i felt though, that was the best; It was just so cool coming in everyday after a nice sunny hot time out and coming to my computer checking to see if there was any news....even if there wasnt there was always the "halflife 2 theories" thread.
 
i miss the regular little updates and generally everything being new and fresh. an injection of new material would whip up the hype again for sure.

Same here.

I just can't get that memory out of my mind, the first time I saw Half-Life 2 at E3... I was watching at Gamespots E3 video (real-time, so it buffered sometimes), saw the Half-Life 2 logo... jaw drooping I can tell you.
And when I first saw G-Man, when they demonstrated how his face could move and so on.

And then the gameplay movies, ahh... memories. :)
 
Man, I just watched a few of the HL2 vids again and all the hype came back for me, but only briefly. As I was watching them I remembered just how excited I was before the source code leak and all that... *sigh*
 
I definitely miss the hype... the vids... the feeling that there actually will be more new stuff soon instead of empty promises...

I should redownload some of the vids, but I can't be bothered at the moment. Maybe later.
 
Yeah.. the thing I miss most is info and media...

IGN claims they have new screens...but they're just shots taken from the E3 video we all have seen dozens of times...

If they weren't so tight-lipped about it...I'm sure hype would pick back up...but then we wouldn't be in for cool surprises when we get our own copies.

The hype is almost dead in me. Yep.

The hype'll return when we get a tidbit of new information, a screenshot or anything. I just can't wait until the few weeks before the release of the game, it'll be crazy :D

I want some fresh info and good news again. I want Valve telling people all that delay talk is nonsense. I want a date I can look forward to :(
 
once theres a date, and even a couple new media releases, it will be non stop hype until release. then we can get hype built for mod releases, which is a good thought.
 
And with all these people waiting for the hype, it isn't going to take much for the hype to rise right back up... so VALVe aren't necessarily going to go into a great big advertising cycle...
 
I agree. We definatly need more info, we feed off it, we dont want too much, just some pics or some kind of media, enough to not spoil anyhting, just... take a screenshot every couple weeks, is that so hard?

*edit* oh yeah and its not that big of a deal, the hype was great but i would really love the game, so ya know if this is all we get to not ruin the game, its fine with me.
 
I read at PlanetHalflife, there it stood that Valve will not probably release anymore information about the game until E3 in May this year.

I miss the new videos too, so I downloaded all the bink videos again last week. However, I can't find the one with the buggy or the one with the Striders anywhere. Are these only in the Gamespy video or have I missed them completely?

Only in the gamespy vid. They were supposed to be released in BINKs too, but that's one of the many things that were never heard of again after the whole leak/delay debacle.
 
I don't think that those have been released as Binks yet...

Is it really necessary? Most people get stuff like this moved to Off Topic. While im at it...you dont have to say "Moved". People do tend to notice when it does in fact say Moved next to the topic.

I really wanted the Strider Video in bink format, along with the Buggy one but sadly i never got them.

Like Abom says, things will really pick up a few weeks before the release.
 
With my luck, they will release it when I'm on vacation :|, so I'd be all hyped up but not there when it releases... argh
 
What is the buggy video? I don't think I have ever seen it.
 
I remember the day when the Gman bink video came out, ah teh good days, when I think about It I get that weird nostalgia feeling...
 
I know this has been talked about alot, but what was gman saying in that video?

Heh, i was just looking over all the oldest posts in the art section, and a lot of the ones linking to pictures now have a simple red X which, it seems, people talk about a lot :D

I remember ( I guess thats starting to sound a little repetitive hehe) having an aim conversation with Sgt.Igneri about a week before Sept. 30.

I said something like "I can't believe HL2 will be out soon!"

Then he said something like "Yeah it's going to be great"

;(
 
IT used to be exciting and fresh around the various HL2 communities. Before the dark times, before the delays.

Now it's decaying and not so fun and the game isn't released.

It's just going to get worse as the silence continues. It will be like a graveyard in here next year when Valve still won't release the game. Don't call me cynical, it's a perfectly feasible situation.
 
i am just hoping for the SDK... or even for a date for the SDK... or even for the SDK docs!

anything that we can mull over, chew on, and talk about. This forum will be buzzing in may though, that's for sure.
 
I used to come here multiple times a day and post a bunch. Since the delays I come here maybe once or twice a week and Maybe read a couple posts or post myself.

I mainly keep coming here to see if some new media has been released recently that I can drool over.

I wish Valve would do a "screenshot of the week" until the game was released.
 
The hype has never left me... every day I subconsciencely (sp?) think about the vids and how damned shocked I was when I first seen them. Every time I think about it, it's like seeing them for the very first time, I just don't over induldge myself in order to keep it alive.
 
Christ it's nearly a year since this all started, there was no way in hell in May of last year i could of thought about surviving so long without playing this game!

/me thinks back to the numerous count-down times, the original E3 vids, his first posts on here

I'm glad this forum is considered the home of the community :)
 
In a way it's a kind of hype, as most people are still waiting desperatly for a shred of new information. You could argue Valve are playing a clever marketing game by saying nothing. However of course, i think if they were to continue the mute for a huge amount longer, a lot of people would just lose interest completely. Anticipation is only gonna last so long, even for die-hards.
 
Its a shame that valve can't release maybe a few new screenshots or concept art, or maybe a small clip. Think about it, the game is roughly 47 hours long (roughly 4 hours on each chapter, thats 12 chapters), it is not like their going to reveal much if they release a minute long vid. I wouldn't mind if they released a clip of the training level or something, as long i can get to see the stunning visuals or something new or what have....
 
I think the general sentiment here is, "We want some new media" , and I agree.

I don't understand why Valve can't just give us 2 or 3 new screenshots. I'm not looking for a 45-minute in-game video. Is a couple new screens asking too much?

I think it's going to get worse before it gets better. If no new media or info is released in the next 3 or 4 weeks then this forum is going to get very quite.

Since the dead spot after the delay some members came back but there leaveing again.

There hasn't been new info for months. Why would the next couple of weeks be any different and scare people away?
