Don't you miss the hype?

There hasn't been new info for months. Why would the next couple of weeks be any different and scare people away?

Agreed, I miss the hype also... I wonder if the game will acually turn out diffrent in our eyes because of all the hype (or lack there of)? I know some games get so much hype, that when they come out, they are nothing of what we expected of them, but HL2 would have been diffrent... but I think once we hit spring, the hype will return.

I think it's going to get worse before it gets better. If no new media or info is released in the next 3 or 4 weeks then this forum is going to get very quite.
That's probably a good thing. Frankly, I don't want to hear anything more from Valve until they're within a month or so of release.

Losing Interest

All the delay business and the source code theft was at least something to read about. Now I've stooped to getting excited about someone building a headcrab our of copper wire. Just two months ago I remember checking once a week, and then after New Years I checked only to find the same news post from December 18th. Everyones so hungry for ANYTHING that valve could release a pre-alpha pic of a pistol and we'd drool over it. ;(

news would be awesome...but i want gabe to post here again

News from the Gabe would be quite welcome... but only if he has something good to say. :)

Theres not as much hype simply because we dont know a release date now.
Back then it was "September 30th" and everyone knew that was the day.
We dont know what day to look forward to now.

To me, its all still there, because eventually the game will be out.
And losing the hype? Come on.
How did Half-Life 2 win the Most Anticipated Game of 2003 (or was it 2004) award?

Valve will stir it up again when they are within one or two months of release and then hopefully they will manage to release the game at the height of the hype. I think that the next round of hype will start around their next E3 appearance. I'm wondering what they will show the public this time. They don't want you to know much about story, multiplayer, weapons, characters, settings, enemies, etc... That would leave mainly info about the engine and mods and they have already said quite a lot on that subject (though they have been a little vague). Well it won't be hard to start hype anyways. Just release a short clip and everyone will go insane.

I don't think the next hype for the game's release will be as big as the first (even if it is a true release date), just because they've already given us the E3 videos, screenshots, information, etc. The novelty has worn off a bit, so we won't be quite as shocked or awed next time we see Half-Life 2 in action.

I have this feeling that one reason they're not releasing any media is they decided to do a major rewrite of the storyline...

I just want more info DIRECTLY from VALVe on the storyline.

I most definitely do miss it. I've not been posting here in a few months actually. The whole news of the delay and stealing of the code sorta just turned me off from even wanting to talk about the game for a while.

Unless of course if the new video's and screenshots are twice as good. Plus we havn't seen or heard anything new for a long time, it will come as a shock to the system when something new is released.

I'm willing to bet money that when the hype does come it will be big, we havn't seen much of the game, we don't even know anything about MP and there has been a couple of months of developemnet since we last saw a screenshot and even then alot of those screenshots were out of date. The novelty of the physics may have worn off a bit but lets be honest, the only game that has anything near the physical interaction that HL2 does is PK and it takes a completely different approach to game desighn.
