Doom 3 Demo!

Wow, took them long enough.

Looks like they're giving away the best part of the game as well, which is no bad thing I guess. :)

wow... 3 levels... thats quite big :)

i certainly think its a clever way of doing things though. if it wasnt for the warez version it would have worked out perfectly- every FPS fan buys doom3 when it comes out (even those who wouldnt like it and would be put off by a demo), then a demo is released for everyone who isnt sure to buy it or not. If the demo was released at first a lot of poeple might have thought it wasnt all it was cracked up to be.

I haven't played it... Kinda worthless to play it on a G4Mx440

Actually, the game's minumum calls for that card. It actually looks good, even at "low" settings.

Guys who didn't buy Doom III yet, you can download demo and play it 30 times, you will basiclly get the whole game right there, for free.

wow it finally came to fileplanet... took long enough.

and btw Mr. reak, i agree that the game is repetitive but the levels do have some variation, and its a very satisfying game. i havent completed it yet (im going very slowly) but when i do i will be very satisfied. My advice: if you like the demo and have the money, buy Doom3 and play it through VERY SLOWLY!!! i find it very fun like that.

When I finished Doom 3 I was so relieved. I never want to play it again (seriously, I enjoyed it for about 30 minutes, then it became a chore to play and hence the relief when it was all done)

So I'm not downloading this demo....I'm downloading the Daikatana demo instead :). Or should that be ;(

I admit, I got to the "I want to beat it for the sake of accomplishment" feeling in D3.. but once I got to Hell, the game picked up pretty quickly and became fun and refreshing again. I wouldn't want to replay about 15 of the levels in the game though (after invasion, before Hell).. lol

Well I've just been playing it...I have to say, it does have nice lights and thats fun to play around with. I like the computer screens and things like that as well. Apart from that though, I found it to be relatively dull. Horror never was my thing though...

Everyone who's complaining about Doom 3 normally I would be saying "You're only saying that because you had such high expectations".

But I actually agree with you.

Hmm.

If Doom 3 doesn't scare you, chances are you'll be bored. It doesn't really get anymore complicated that that.

So I did get the game, despite the fact that my card sucks...

It was a good demo experience. Nothing I'll buy though... I had hoped it would be scarier, and that the intro of the invasion would have sucked less.

Heh, yeah...I never had any expectations of Doom 3 really. Although, I suppose all the hype around how good it was suppsoed to look was a big let down when I played it. I had it on ultrhigh graphics on some settings,a nd I did like the way the lights worked, but apart from that it was pretty 'meh'

I've already got the game, but this is very good news for those who can't afford it or aren't sure if they want it! Thanks for the headsup!

I get around 40-50FPS average on Ultra settings @ 1024x768 with a Radeon 9800 Pro stock clocked. Pretty good experience with the levels, as that is further than I ever got at the CyberCafe.

7/10

i got 10 fps with my 1ghz athlon and 5600xt

it was awesome when i wasnt opening doors or firing guns....soo pretty.....

i ran everything on the lowest, jeez that was proof that my system needs upgrading :laughl:

ehh. im better of then the dude with the 486

LOL, i just played the demo. I played it with a AMD Athlon 900 mghz, 384 mb ram and a geforce4 mx440. Of course, it lagged like hell. But still, its amazing it was working on my system. It didnt look bad either, shining surfaces and stuff, really great atmosphere this game has.

This game is fun for a while, but if i would beat the game, i am sure i wouldnt play it again. Because this game is not really my style. ( Though its refreshing sometimes ). Im more into open areas , clear view , and stuff. Like Far Cry, and HL2 of course.

Would you believe me if I told you that the game was playable on 1024*768 with high details and 2x antialiasing, and I have a Radeon 9600 Pro, Athlon XP 1800+, 512 mt DDR. I was shocked. Of course it lagged on some parts, but not so much that it would've become impossible to play.

The coders of FarCry should take advice from id software on how to code a flashlight. I mean, turning on the flashlight in Doom 3 doesn't affect the frame rate at all, but in FarCry...
