Doom 3 nods to Half Life 2

Don't think anyone has posted this yet. Found it on planetdoom.

Weird but hilarious nontheless. . .

I was mowing down some demons at the EnPro plant when I somehow (glitch/bug?) managed to double jump my ass on to one of the side platforms. Seeing as I'm stuck and theres no way up to the platform from there, I figured wth, I'l just jump down to my death and start over....

Jumped and prepared to press F9 when I realised I've landed safely without harm. It was pitch black all around. Switched on my torchlight and discovered I'm in some kind of "untextured" corridor just below the power core. Cool.

Walked around abit and saw a uniquely textured fat zombie corpse with a PDA besides it. I LOLed when i read it. . .

Bah, reading the rest of the thread, it's a fake. Oh well, funny anyway :)

We know id and valve are - well - on good terms with each other.

So it could be a homage to them? or pun intended?
 
I wish they brought back the old school imps... by not retexturing them... hell why didnt they just spend 5 years building 1000 new doom levles and come out with DOOM3 ... that would be sweet.

If they are on good terms with each other, it just makes it that much funnier. Like when my buddy brags to me about how much faster his X800 XT is next to my X800 Pro.. bastard.
 
If that's real, it seems rather, I dunno, undiplomatic? You'd think that they would leave Gabe personally, and his weight problem, out of any rivalry between the companies. You know, make fun of Half Life and Gordon all you wan't, but stay out of Valve employee's personal lives. The way they treat it makes it seem really fake. Just my 1/50 of a dollar.
 
its not real. it contained spelling mistakes and loads of other little errors as pointed out above.

plus no yanks say "cheers" its a british thing :) i think :p
 
Doom 3 must be quite flattering to Valve

doom 1/2 came out years before halflife :)
 
The letter is from 2145.
Gabe Newell must be still alive by then...working on Half-Life 5.

The dead Zombie is meant to be Gabe :dozey: :rolleyes:

It's fake obviously, the writing on the PDA isn't even all the same size.

And I still don't get the "id dig at Valve" just because id used the word "Valve" in their game.

"VALVe running," as in fleeing. As in "O NOS! DOOM 3 IS HERE, RUN! WE R TEH CHECKMATED!"
 
Better yet don't bring up old threads that are about fake things...
