Doom 3 thrillers

I know it's a bit late for this but, I've been playing through Doom 3, yea I was THAT BORED! I got to the part where it's pretty much still the begining, you go into a bathroom, you look into a mirror and BOOM A ZOMBIE/ALIEN/POSSESED THING APPEARS ON THE MIRROR! it seems silly, I know. It was midnight, and all the lights were off.. It scared the piss out of me mainly cause I wasn't expecting the sound.

Lol. I loved doom 3. Good game.

doom3 is an AMAZING game but the locations can become a bit repetitive...still one of my favourites purely for its atmosphere

that should be scary. strange, i haven't played doooM 3 yet! OMG!

The part that made me jump was in the level where the dead monsters r put in the water tubes and 1 is still alives and jumps on the window...phewww

That mirror scene is a really scary part...its not silly to be scared at that part. It was a masterpiece :p

Yeah, I haven't completed it either. But my concious has been telling me for some time to complete it.

Unfortunately that's the only remotely scary part.

Seriously, I thought it was one of those crappy "boo!" scares you get to see in those movies.

I quite liked that mirror scene. One of the few things I did like about the game actually.

I must have missed the mirror scene. Or at least not done it right. I can't remember seeing any enemy in a mirror :/

If I'm thinking of the same thing, it wasn't so much an enemy as yourself but it was as if you were morphing or aging. Turning into a zombie perhaps.

Playing the game in 5.1 surround sound really makes a difference. The part with the mirror still freaks me out.

Playing through Hell was definitely one of the greatest moments in the entire game. If Hell was real, thats how I would imagine it. I just wish Hell would have been longer.

Great game overall.

I uninstalled when I finished Hell and came back to the Labs.

"What? Crappy lab setting AGAIN??! **** YOU ID!!"

those spider human head things freak me out because you can hear them comming but you have no idea from where... that spooky feeling throughout the game kicks ass, i agree on the gameplay becoming somewhat tedious, i still like it though....
the part where you meet the first of those bull monsters is cool too

Doom 3 wasn't scary that much....The only time i was scared was when I was standing by a lock trying out the diffrent ID's for it when suddenly some 2 headed spider attacks from behind, made me jump. But otherwise the game was shitty scares.

Ive seen better ones, even in non-scary settings...

i never get scared wiht anything, not movies, muggers in dodgy avenues....

but doom 3 really was something else. With surround sound and high graphics, it feels so real. Well you definately soak up the atmosphere anyways. I hate the spider things tho, since spiders are just freaky. (same goes for hl2 spider headcrab things)

I want psychological frights, but right off the bat the beasts are in you're face. Best way to desensitise your audience in my opinion.

Also the mindlessnees of the opposition detracts from the experience, surely denizens from another dimension have better things to do than eat people. Lions and sharks do that. I want something that ****s with peoples minds.

The cyberdemon fight at the end was the only I liked about Doom3, only because 200feet bosses are awesome.

I just got Doom 3 and not being familiar with it I'm pretty much slaughtered after 10 minutes into the combat part of the game. I think the enemies are pretty scary and I love how my blood just splatters all over the monitor when I get shot. Anyway, I'm still at the beginning, and not really looking forward to dying again, but I'm sure it will happen...a lot.

I loved it at first but by the end I was just wanting to get it over with because I knew that, if I stopped, I wouldn't come back to it.

There's some great moments but spawning enemies predictably behind you outside of an MMORPG is unforgiveable.

Doom 3, to me, is like some sort of fantastic mess of ideas. At the same time, it's trying to be scary, atmospheric and create a genuine world, but at the same time refuses to let go of a lot of cliches that bog the genre down. That being said, I think it's a damned scary game first time through, though I think it should have ended at Hell; it's like the Return of the King ending, it just kept going and going and going...it was all building up to this great finale in Hell, and then once you think it's ended, you're thrown back into Mars.

There's no many things it should have done differently, yet there were plenty of things it did really well. And in that sense, it's pretty unique in how it all comes together in a chaotic, unbalanced, but fun game . :) And the beginning is still the best beginning ever, IMO.

im kind of happy that they stuck with some of the original doom stuff, but i think its lame that they kept that "omg a door has opened, in the wall, that wasent really a wall, but a door and zombies and imps are eating my braaaaiiiins!" with todays possibilities in the game scene they could have chosen a diffrent way to do that...

I think hell is overated - only more enemies and it didn't really looked that cool. (c'mon, tatooted hellknights? what next id?)

IMO, the starting levels were more awesome - especially the first three. Then the game, unfortunately, goes down the drain. Many people say that HL2's starting levels were awesome - but I found doom 3's earlier levels more impressive.
