How is that a low blow??? I have doom 3 and I never seen anything that would put down valve.

why would they low blow valve? both communities seem to want there to be some kind of rivallry between them, and whenever they are asked, they seem to love eachothers game, and respect eachother....

now assuming that referrs to valve the compony, how do you know its a low blow? how do you know its not a plus?
 
It was enough that it was considerd a easter egg on planetdoom which is the whole reason i put it here. Jesh!
 
I think this just proves how much desperate people are for HL2 that they have to look into small things like this... I mean in Doom III, it is full of machinery, pumps, and things. It shouldn't suprise people that there is a "valve" in the game.
 
I seriously don't get it. How does have anything to do with valve, besides the name? PLEASE EXPLAIN! Can people really be this stupid?
 
Valve running...

ie Valve software running because doom3 is so good, they cannot compete...

but more than likely, its just a coincidence.
 
Valve running? I didn't know that valves ran... I always thought valves were either open or closed. Who knows, it might be intentional, it might not. Only the guys over at iD could say for sure.

Dude, it's a VALVE. A valve is, and I quote, "Any of various devices that regulate the flow of gases, liquids, or loose materials through piping or through apertures by opening, closing, or obstructing ports or passageways."

Just because there's a company that happens to use the name as their own doesnt mean that everytime ID needs to "regulate the flow of gases, liquids, or loose materials through piping or through apertures by opening, closing, or obstructing ports or passageways" they're actually poking fun at Valve. Now if it has said something more, like something about the Valve not being able to release, or not working properly, and it was worded right, I might take it that way.
 
So now it's taboo to use the word "valve" in games unless you want to get flamed by HL2 fanboys?

[Some game in the future]"In the next training session, you must turn the [insert valve synonym here] so that the [insert steam synonym here] flow stops"

ID wouldnt do something like that to Valve. especially since they licensed ID tech for the HL1 engine.
 
I think Carmack even stated that he was excited about HL2, and that he wanted to play it.

Yea probably, the guys at id aren't a bunch of ass holes guys.... What do you think this is, a graphics card battle??? I mean wtf are people thinking when they are like "OMG TEH VALVE SOFTWARED PWNED U HAHAHAH NUBZ" I mean seriously... the more games we get the better......

Jeez I don't even know if most people who post that kind of shit have past puberty and can't get past the fact that all game developers WANT more games to come out.... I mean sure there is some friendly competition and all, but nothing like this....

Hell the VALVe guys were playing Doom3 together and were having fun, and although they said they feel their game is better, who wouldn't say their game is better unless it's like comparing Half-Life to Quake3?

That is definitely not aimed at Valve Software. Some times a game or a movie will actually have this object called a valve. Did you know that Half-Life had a few valves? Gordon had to turn those valves. Make the Valve Software crew are making fun of themselves. That's my guess.
Doom 3 shouldn't even be compared to Half-Life 2. I know for a fact from playing Doom 3 and watching those 27 minute HL2 demonstrations, that both games are very different. Doom 3 is a gorgeous game with awesome physics combined with the old-school shooter style that a lot of us remember. Half-Life 2 will be a continuation of a new bred FPS, that has styles of gameplay that we aren't quite familiar with.

jeez all the guys here that are freaking out need to get a life. a computer screen said Valve on it. it could have said anything, but id chose to make it say valve. its a nice little shout-out to half life.
 
it would be incredibly stupid for any company to diss valve or half-life in a game. can you only imagine valve's retaliation in hl2 :eek:
 
that can never be considered as a low blow??? How is it possible.That might be some thing connected with the current state of a valve , like the current state of water-valve is running ie,... the valve is open..........
