DOOM movie doesnt look all that bad...

It will be good in the sense that Surf Ninjas was good. All that it can aspire to be is camp, so if it does that well it will be good.

I know that it will probably suck, but i do have to give them some credit for doing some scenes in Firstperson view, it wont be an artistic masterpiece, but it looks like a fun movie.

Looks like my inner gaming child is getting reamed real hard.

You better not be being sarcastic. Ernie Reyes Sr. and Jr. are not to be taken sarcastically. :frown:

THE ROCK!! theres no better man to play his character. ill deff go see it, mainly for this fps style

the doom movie is going to be stupid as hell but ill love it

doom movie ftw!

I'm looking forward to it. Hell it will be cheesy but who cares... looks like good fun.

The game is about fast, smash-mouth, gory, pound you in the ass action (with the exception of D3...little slower). Why would the movie be any different??

At the same time, anyone who pays the slightest bit of attention to critics, probobly won't see it.

IMO they should have done it on mars, it woulda bin cool, but I think The Rock (I don't know his real name) is a good choice because, first of all, he looks like the doom guy, and second of all hes a good actor (IMO)

did you even watch the trailer? it IS on Mars, it says so right at the beginning of the trailer

Was anyone else blown away at how cool that fps chainsaw part looked with the mechanical dog at the end? Looking forward to it.

Mechanical dog? You mean Pinky?

Oh wait, what am I saying. I mean the stupid crippled demon mutant?!?!

Oh I'm absolutely serious. Surf Ninjas is a riot, especially when he starts controlling the world with his game gear.

so they changed it a little bit... at least it's on mars

Yes. Mars... with demon cripples.

I'm sorry but I just can't let go of that.

/cries

Good heavens, this is the first batch of people who haven't flat out denied to see this movie! Usually all I read are "Doom sucked ergo movie suck" rhetorical comments.

Is it me or does the movie not look dark enough to be really scary? I think a lot of the fear the game instilled in the player was due to the groans and shuffling or scuttling in the dark so you had to get the flashlight out and jump at the sight of a bloated zombie shambling towards you with a wrench or worse!

The first person parts look okay, but hopefully not a lot of the movie is like that--it looks like it could get old really quick.

A lot of it looks great, though--the outside of the UAC, the BFG, the Rock's character, some of the creatures.

We'll just have to see how it all gels in a month or so....

My thoughts exactly, Victim. It just seems a tad too gung-ho and action-oriented to really instill fear.

Of course, I'm rarely scared by horror movies nowadays. It usually takes a David Lynch film to get under my skin.

I actually reckon it might be alright, but I love how at the 'human genome' bit you can see a progress bar saying 'human genome mapping'.

i think they're going more for a Doom I and II feel in a Doom III environment

Yeah, the guy behind the diner in Mulholland Drive still scares the crap out of me! Lynch is a madman!

All of these movies are aimed at the so-called "MTV Generation" anyway, so they are almost guaranteed to be filled with very little substance and a whole lot of fluff. Look at the remake of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre--all slick, pretty, well-known actors with modern cinematography and music--nothing like the grainy, gritty original where you didn't associate the actors with their role on 7th Heaven or some such. The original is one of the best horror films ever and the remake should not have even been associated with the name.

Just as, I fear, the remake of The Wicker Man--another amazing classic they will befoul with modern, well-know actors and the rest. For shame!
