I didn't know whether to put this in the games or the movies section, but i put it in the games section because it has more readers. I am wondering which of these 2 video game adaptations is going to be the better one. What do you guys think?

I hate to say it but Halo. The Doom 3 movie will end up in ruins.

Halo has a really good story (read the books). Doom however does not have a great story which is usually why you go to the movies so I vote halo.

yes you are right doom what do you do you go to a world where you open a portal to hell every time the story hasnt changed since the first doom although it wasnt very clear what the story line was in the first one but it is clear that halo movie will be better and i wanna see who plays master chief they almost showed us his face in halo 1

They will both suck.

I was asking which one will be better, not if you think they will suck or not :\

Besides the point :p

I think they will both be as bad, thats what I meant. Becuase they are games come movies.

lol ok

Also, about the whole "who will be master chief" thing, I think it would be best if they just had a stunt-man in a suit and the voice of Chief would just be a voiceover to make it on-par with the game, they should never EVER show his face, not even in halo 3.

About Doom, the story has potential in it. Obviously it is "demons attack mars" scenario in a nutshell, but that rule can also be applied to other things. Say HL2 for instance: "aliens conquer earth, one man army kills aliens" is basically the plot at its core, but on the outside it is an entirely different situation.
I would also like to mention that if either one of these movies has a romance side-story, i will be pulling my hair in the cinema saying "why?!"

DOOM. But that's because I hate Halo.

How tall is Masterchief anyway? They'll need like a 7 foot man or rely on special effects wizardry to make the guy in the suit taller. Or they could just do the whole movie in CGI. :)

Out of the two, I think Halo has the edge. There's a lot more science-fiction to it.

Yes while a marine is saving hell he will find a hot chick who eventually start makeing love, even though all of mars is full of demons and scary noises. If there to loud, a demon might hear and come at them.......yeah...a love story..plus doom ,.,,, = ....... wowzers!

Not a fair question really, considering the doom movie has nothing to do with the game at all. Halo movie will probally be a romantic comdey staring Tom Hanks.

They're both going to suck complete ass.

If Halo is directed by Ridley Scott then it will be awesome.

If

Wrong. Doom movie is based on Doom 3 and there will be demons. They changed back month or so ago. Its not 100% but id say its 86%-92%.

Halo movie on the other hand will also be cool. Both movies have great potential lets just wait and see.

I vote neither, cause they both bored me to tears *story wise...doom 1/2 gameplay kept me happy..until 3.......we won't travel that road of flames.*

You have to remember that most horror movies don't really have a storyline ie. Dawn of the Dead, texas chainsaw massacre, so I think that Doom 3 will do well compared to other horrors but maybe not so well up against movies with a good plot.
My vote goes to Doom

LOL.

I'm putting my bets on Doom. Only because, it's so much more bad ass than Halo. One man against Hell.

But if the Doom Marine gets a side-kick in the Doom movie, then I'm going to storm out of the theatres. I shit you not, I'm actually going to ****ing leave.

Well, I doubt very much it'll have the same characters and specific events. Generally, there's not much to the Doom story besides;

UAC unleashes Hell onto Mars, Hell finds way into rescue ships, returns home and infects Earth. IMO the movie should be based on Doom II, a bit on Mars, a bit on Earth, and then finally ending back up in Hell again. Doom II is simply more badass anyway.

Doom movie isnt about one man, its a team of marines.

I think a Halo movie would be better.
Three parts:

First - when the Covenant started destroying colonies and the war started, continuing up untill Reach fell, with the final scene showing the Pillar Of Autumn fleeing the battle .

Second - when the Pillar Of Autumn crashes on Halo, bluh, bluh, bluh, meet the MC, bluh, bluh, find out about the Forerunners and Flood, ect. ect.

Third - half focusing on the battle for Earth, while the other half focuses on the attempt to shut-down/destroy the remaining Halos (plus any other suprises we find out in Halo 3 :))

That would be too long and would require a heck of a script.

1000th post for you Datrix, nice work.

The books gives it a good basis though.

Uh, thanks. :D
I actually left it at 999 :frown:.
... so does reporting add to your post count? :|

No idea.

But if they do make a Halo movie it should be like Starship Troopers.

I'm talking instead of telling a backstory in a quick rundown or 10 minute prologue, they should go with that information kiosk voice "Would you like to know more?" guy.

Actually they should add him to every movie.

Who cares about that guy? I'd like to see a movie with some random asshole's commentary as he watched the movie for the first time. Just when the horror movie is trying to get the tension built up the guy breaks the silence and says "What the **** is that dumb bitch doing? That stupid ****... is she getting in the shower? Oh yeah... she's gonna die. Ooh, nice tits!" Then, when you see a shadow of someone with a knife slowly creeping up the shower curtain he yells "SHE GON' GET IT!" That should be a standard option on every DVD.

No way, that'd require a hella of alot of work, and tough to do. Would feel immensly rushed.

Voted neither.

I hate it when they make movies out of video games, they are never good and it always make the game look bad.

In the beginning, I thought AvP would make a good video game movie, but when they said the movie was in the works it seemed it would be just as crappy as all the other video game movies.

I've learned to never look forward to any movies based on video games.

I vote Halo, whatever complaints you have about the game at least it has a movie-worthy plot.

Is paul anderson or uwe boll involved in either of these movies?
