Doom3 on April 15 - CONFIRMED

There's probably a good chance that Doom 3 will have generally better graphics than HL2...BUT I'm also betting that it's gonna be one heck of a system hog. HL2 will whoop on Doom 3 in story (Id has NEVER had a decent story) and character realism (especially facial detail...the Doom 3 shots don't have ANYTHING like the G-Man's emotional display).

As for the release date...havn't you guys learned not to get your hopes up?

Well, I believe that most of people in here are going to buy Doom3 instead HL2! I will get both but I believe that I will play Doom3 mostly.

Dont get your hopes up too much, Gamespot just changed it to Q2, I guess they're not that sure anymore... :(

If I was only intersted in Doom 3...

But still, that's awesome! I thought it had a TBC 2004-2005 release date.
God I only wish VALVe would come out and say "HL2 on May 30th, that's right we wanted to surprise you!"

Oh wait, this just came to me...
Now that Doom 3 has a good chance of coming out on April 15th, HL2 will not have as much competition to worry about! If VALVe lets Doom 3 have its fame for like a month or two and works all day everyday non-stop on HL2, they could get it completely done, fix steam up, and make the last few bug corrections and get it out in time for June. That would be so great.

Yeah I noticed that too. Well, my excitement lasted a few hours at least. Oddly enough I saved the article as an html file...oh well.

You know what? I honestly think people are going to pirate this game to hell.
 
There's nothing "confirmed" about this. It's another rumour, apparently from an Activision "insider". Moved to General Gaming.
 
Man, after Doom 3 comes out, the dudes over at Valve will start playing it over and over, 'till they decide HL 2 needs some radical improvements :devil: :devil: :devil: and the bastadz will delay it for another year !!!

With UT2004 and Doom III coming in the next couple of months it's finally time I built a new pc. My reliable but woefully inadequate 1Ghz Duron/GF3 - 200Ti just isn't going to do.
 
I must admit I was excited there for about a minute.
But April 15 is simply too soon. Id Software always releases a demo or a beta a couple of weeks before the full version. Quite frankly, I'm not expecting a demo of some sort by next week. These things are announced way in advance.

Gamespot.com is reporting that they have found out from a "reliable source" that Activision plans on releasing DOOM 3 on April 15th 2004. Although the only date to be revealed form id Software was "when it's done", there was the knowledge that it would be released in Activisions 2005 fiscal year which begins in April 2004. Whether this release date is true or not remains to be seen but GameSpot seems pretty sure of themselves. When we learn more about this "date" we will be sure to let you all know.

Update: The page that had reported the release date at Gamespot has disappeared somewhere. I think it's safe to assume someone wasn't happy with it being posted.

I like the safe to assume someone wasnt happy part and the when its done it gets released part but the best part was we got to talk about just one more time :cheers:

I have also thought the same thing as [ un om bun ] that there all waiting on the other guy to release first so they can tune theres up a knotch it kinda seems like that they all want a first place trophy and want to see the compition before they release theres, i feel like something like that is happening and they keep making up delay stories.

It just cant be steam or video card special offers i think its more personal they want first place what do you guys think on this ??
 
Frankly I think Doom 3 will end up giving me a heart attack so Im kinda scared... game won't be finished for a long time though.

You know how the games industry is, come on guys. News like this always springs up but the ****ing designers come out later and ruin it for us. If it does come out when they say it is, I will walk into id Software and french kiss John Carmack and I'm a dude!
 
I'd do even worse things if I knew they'd speed up Doom 3 & HL2 :naughty:
 
YES! I want this so badly! I am really forgetting bout HL2 when the latest media is the size of a 50x50 avatar...:| Anyway, this has to be true. The only way it could have been removed is that id didn't want people fiding out! THIS IS GREAT! I FEEL GREAT!

Doom 3 is what I am looking forward to now. Ofcourse, as with HL2, looking forward to something to be "released" soon only sets one up for a fall.

Hl2 SP is something that never interested me. It is the ENGINE that I care about. CS2 and TFC 2. I never did like HL single player..

Doom 3 on the other hand, I KNOW will scare the crap out of people. And it will be a good SP compared to HL2.

According to EB employees activision told them yesterday its not due until august minimum.

Shuzer (AKA Luzer) thinks hes the cops around here or something, when he actually has no power and all his posts are from telling people every little mistake they made in their post.
He also fails to point out that his posts are equally as useless. Like this one.
 
EB also had a release date for HL2, before it was even announced.......

I think it was something like July 7th, 2003 (This was way back in like Feb. last year)

Retail stores know just as little as the rest of us. Never put faith in the dates listed.

heh, Im looking forward to Battlefield Vietnam, more than anything else... simply because its so close to release.
that and Valve have a tendancy to "surprise" their fans with delays.
also the article was removed, therefore I dont think it is "official" (relating to Doom3's release)
