ok guys is there anyway to make a door block outside light while it is closed?

anyhelp would be much appreciated

ok, doesnt really matter if it does, just would have added to the realism of the map

and to my next question...

i have layed down a set of handrails in a room where the lights shine with a red glow... however the handrails just reflect your normal white light glow... do you know of anyway i can get the handrails to reflect the color of the light being shined down upon them?

so once i make it a sube map (as in put a 3d skybox) it should reflect properly correct? (the only reason i havent bothered is because im completely indoors thusfar and dont want to bother having to change skyboxes 15 billion times over the course of expanding the map)

you don't need a 3D skybox for cubemaps. Just place the entity near your rails and when you run the map use the buildcubemaps command. That should sort out any reflective discrepancies.

um... if youre talking about a doorway fill the doorway with a brush and apply the tools/toolsblocklight material to all sides.

You can't make the shadows move with the door. Lightmaps are "burnt" onto the surfaces when you compile. So you have to make a decision whether you want light shining under the door from the inside, or whether you want there to be a shadow when the door is open.

Just throwing an idea out, but could you have a light that turned on and off with the door if you really wanted to?
