Dorian Gray - Theatrical Trailer 1

The radio told me it had a Twilighty vibe to it :|

My sister says the effects kinda ruined it. Scorpion King stylee.

I wanted to see this but I've not heard many great things about it.

Basically, yes. The acting isn't bad (well, except when it is. lol first love interest.), good period production values, wrapped in a totally unnecessary teen-horror crappiness through a combination of editing and special effect failure.

The way it opens halfway through the story before flashing back was not a good sign. It was clearly saying to it's intended audience "don't worry! It'll be scary soon after the talky bit!"

Hahaha, yes. If the film was smarter all over you might suspect it of being deliberate jokey casting. But she really was terrible. For a film of a text about image it was very unimaginative, cinematography included. And for a morality play about beauty and temptation, it might have helped if any of the 'hedonism' scenes were in any way beautiful or tempting. They were, instead, boring.

I did admire the ways in which it deviated from the book, though - thought taking it properly towards WW1 and beyond was a good move, and liked Lord Henry's daughter.

A bizarre film.
