Alright, my preload was stuck for 3 hours so I thought it was my computer. I hit cancel preload to attempt to try to install it again. Now I get this popup!

The Steam servers are currently too busy to handle any more preloads of Half-Life 2. Try again in a few hours.

I took today off for this!

Well, all i can say is, if you took the day off for this game, you should have preloaded it long ago, or backed a lost one up.

Anyuone expecting to preload yesterday/today was in for trouble with all the unlocking and bandwith going on...

sorry mate, hope yah get to play it soon

Yeah, one would think people wouldnt wait till the last minute to dl a game thats several gigs big. Hope you get to play soon, as well.

Steam is more evil than something really evil. It's a bad idea.

Nope cant sign that petition.....steam rocks. No probs whatsoever.

The idea is good.

The implementation could be improved.

I also had to do some pre-loading it seems...allthough I bought the DVD...so...:(

didn't work for me to by the way...yet...

Steam IS a good idea. It stops the petty little pissants that call themsevles crackers or hackers from haxing the game straight off the press. I'm GLAD that Steam is around. It signals the entry of a new age of security. Sure, there will always be a way around the system, but for most people that way is becoming more and more fiddly. Which is a good thing. It's unfortunate that the thread starter is having a problem preloading the game but seriously dude if you waited 'till release day to start the preload you may as well buy the damn retail version! If you wanted HL:S and DOD:S as well you really should have preloaded weeks ago.

Just my 2 pence.

Steam has worked flawlessly for me. Of course, I've had Half-Life 2 preloaded for weeks, so unlocking was a relatively quick and painless process.

All I have to say is, you should have preloaded!

Finally they added Half-Life 2 to the "My Games" section instead of "Coming soon." I am now downloading it with 208 mins left.

STEAM is FANTASTIC.

I followed all preload updates since they began in August. I was able to play as soon as I restarted steam. The unlocking process took a whopping 10 minutes.

Use it as it is intended, and don't procrastinate :D

* Like the install process

** Granted.

*** Still suffered from Steam problems. Partly to do with busy servers and partly because as a retail buyer, you're used to install and go, not install, connect, verify, de-crypt. And you have to go through the same process in the event of a format etc.
