?Download Updates On Different Computer?

I've tried a search for this answer, but couldn't find one. Apologies if I have missed it.

I have a fast connection at work, but only 56k dial-up at home where I (try to ) play HL2. Is it possible to download patches/updates for HL2/Steam on the fast connection, burn them to CD, then install them on my home PC rather than try to d/l them on my 56k? This is what I do for all my other games, but the Steam situation is clearly different.

BTW, I live in a non-broadband enabled area so I'm not just being a cheapskate.

i hear ya man ive got 56k and im in a non broadband area too it sucks balls huh?
as far as ive hear u cant burn steam files or any realted files like u want to,
youll just have to use ur 56k,i had to its not that bad..............cough.......hope that helps
