- The story is dark-much darker than the usual BioWare fare-and influenced by "realistic" modern fantasy like George R. R. Martin's A Game of Thrones.
- The game uses an evolved "tactical real-time combat" style of Baldur's Gate, only in 3D-you queue up orders for multiple party members, pause the game when you need to think, and your party members will be able to execute coordinated attacks.
- Large-scale creature combat will have your characters doing stuff like ducking between legs and jumping on backs of monsters (dare we say dragons?).
- Even though Dragon Age isn't a D&D game, per se, BioWare is sticking close to those roots with the class and rules systems.
- The game uses a "modified" version of the Mass Effect conversation system we're all so keen on.
- Depending on the type of character you choose, the game offers multiple different "origin stories"-meaning the first few hours of the game will be totally different depending on which character archetype you choose.
- The game's actually coming out in late 2007 or early 2008.
- Bono makes a surprisingly good mentor.

Sounds pretty dern wicked. These guys do seriously terrific work, so I am very excited to see what the next great Oblivion-scale RPG will entail.

so it's like NWN2 mixed with Kotor ..sounds interesting ..but atm I'd rather mass effect came to the pc

According to a very early preview a while back Dragon Age sounds alot like Baldur's Gate - which is all good. This is more my sort of game than Mass Effect, being an old school Dragons and Wizards rpg fan, but it's very early in development and hard to get super hyped for just yet. It also looks like an absolute beast of a game - uber quad core sli pcs at the ready chaps.

'Unreleased game x > unreleased game y'. Good call

It was a joke.

God, people. You're the worst.

Well, with the processing power of rigs due out next year, we should be able to simulate some pretty bad-ass crowd dynamics. They're getting pretty darn good fluid dynamics already with some of the recent water we have seen in various games, so the simulating the roiling masses should be pretty well within the grasp of the developers. Would make for some awesome gameplay dynamics!

awesome! how soon do you think developers will recreate moses parting the red sea? a heck of a lot of water + fluid dynamics + large crowd under the bridge = stern giggling at biblical sized destruction ..oh if it was only so easy in real life!

Hahaha! Very cool to see that--but without the religious connotations of course. Besides, those Christian devs haven't demonstrated they have anywhere near the talent of the rest of the unwashed (and highly superior) masses at, say, Crytek or Valve or Offset. Their games are usually tech garbage. There are CS students doing much better work in their sleep.

ya but a christian game done right could be fun ...the above scene would be pretty awesome

"say sayonara pharoah menz!"

That'd be great. A christian epic rpg with a cast the size of Spartacus - plenty of blood letting, killing of first borns, and *cast pillar of salt* on the heathens.

Smite those ****ers :)

well it always good to contemporary

"oh you silly pharoah's menz following us jews into the desert, dont you know the desert air will dry out your fabulously brown skin and make you look 10 years older?"

I gotta stop watching In living color

**** it. I give up trying to keep track of all the games to be hyped for. I'm just gonna pretend this one doesn't exist until I've atleast given Mass Effect a decent play-through
