This might be a stupid question, but, hey, I'll ask it anyway.

Some of the environments are pretty large and I wondered if Valve gave any info wether they are going to pull a FarCry on us and take the draw distance out of our hands or give us the option of tweaking with it.

If this is a stupid question, blame it on my friend, who's too cheap to buy a new computer.

actually you can tweak with draw distance in farcry, only you have to know the console commands, but i think i have done it once

Ya, you could. But FPS is really bad when you do unless you have a real 1337 rig.

Ah this thread reminded me!

I cannot wait to see (or make) a jumping map that takes full advantage of the draw distance on hl2!
If what Cliffe said is true about it being 10x bigger than hl1 then.......wow, just wow....

Taking a look at the Collective, we see that HL2 draws to 16,384 units or four times that of the original Half-Life.

4x times still oodles and oodles to play with in my book!

Think after I've made a footypitch with the melon as the ball, I'll sort out a base jump or 2 :) See if me and my mates can avoid hitting all of the flag poles sticking out on hte way down :D

Draw distance is how big of an environment the game prepares?

yeah its the distance until the engine stops rendering things in.

So I can only imagine what it'll be like to connect to a server at the bottom of a beanstalk and to look up and see all these people climbing away :P
