Did/do/will your parents let u drive at the minimum age (16, where i am.) Mine won't let me, I'm only 13 now, but they won't let me. what about you guys?

Yes.
But how do you know they're not going to let you, it's three years left?

In retrospect, I don't think it wasn't a good idea for me to be driving at such a young age (15). I don't think you have the motor skills to be competent driver at that age.

If there were to be legislation increase the minimum driving age, I would vote for it.

I wouldn't say its the issue of motor skills, I'd say its the issue of being a teenager, thinking you're invincible(I know I do), and generally diregarding safety. I'd say all your motor skills are well developed by then...

I probably used the wrong word, but it is harder for young people to multi-task. Trying to merge lanes while going 40 MPH and look around for traffic is a bit to much for a 15 year old. And when you combine that with "invinciblity" you have accident prone drivers.

and....beer. That's a biggy. even tho it's 21, we all know that they have beers at parties right?

I think it should be raised, people are idiots when driving most people who have cars at the sixth form drive over the speed limit and recklessly Its pathetic

FT, you ever been in anyone's car.... no.

Trust me, they're good drivers.

I am 18 and I haven't taken any classes or anything yet so I am a little bit behind...

I started driving at 17, which is the minimum age for the UK, and passed after about 7-8 months on my first try. I wasnt really rushing driving and didnt have too many amount of lessons, most of the time was waiting for the test date as there was 4 month waiting list.

I could have easily driven at a younger age, but I am glad that the minimum age is 17 because if it was younger I would hate to see some of my friends at that age driving because they just would have been really reckless.

My parents will allow me to drive the moment I buy my own car :|

Yeah actually I have and I also watch them drive down abbey street bloody fast, they all suck.

Minimum Driving age (for license not permit): 16 1/4. Ive got to wait till im 16, just getting my permit, cause of my parents rules, ill have to wait till 17 for my liscense.

America... such a wierd country. You can drive at 16, but buy beer at 21. In finland you can drive AND buy beer when your 18.

Who's car? If it was Charlie's then fair enough, everyone else is good :)

My parents were more than happy. Still didnt get it until I was 17 because I am lazy. And I worked out of state all summer, kind of puts a hinge in driver's ed plans.

:) I am 16 and I am driving with a permit, my ride is a '97 Honda Accord(stock).

My parents didn't mind...they even paid for it :D It was a present for something if I remember correctly...

Hehe...got my car for free and was out on the road since I got my permit. Although I do have to question the intelligence of letting some of the people I know get behind the wheel. Let it be said I never screamed like a girl even when I believed I was gonna be flattened. :D

I probably could've started taking driving lessons when I was 16, but I waited 'til 17. I don't get my license until a little before I turn 18. I don't really care about driving anyways, so it makes no difference to me.

You, my friend, must not live in a rural area.

Nope, I live in a very, very urban area.... called Houston. It sucks.

I started driving at 15, and was generally very safe. I'm 17 now and haven't gotten in any accidents (knock on wood)

oops i messed up :/ i voted no b/c i did not drive at the minimum age. but i'm sure my parents would have let me.. oh well.. i like to break polls anyway

I have a permit right now. I failed the first driving test for an infuriating reason that I won't get into here, and shall be taking the next one soon enough.

I got my permit at 16 (i.e. now) and in about March or something I can drive by myself. I don't drive much here in suburbia, but I drive all the time in upper Wisconsin [they won't go anywhere unless I drive there . ]

Ha! That is when I am supposedly going to get my licenses as well... but I drive without my parents all the time.

i find it ironic in australia, the day you are legaly allowed to drive by your self, is the same day you are alowed to get alcahol legaly... :|

Losers... I knew how to operate a manual transmission before I was even a teenager.

Nope. But I by no means needed to wait as long as I did.

I still don't have my license.

In Virginia, you must hold your permit for 9 months (if you are under the age of 19) before you can get your license, regardless of when you complete driver's education. So, I got my permit a month or two after I turned 17 (could've gotten it at 15 and a half), and now I've got a half a month to go before I can drive by myself :|

im 17 and i drive by myself most of the times. its not illegal unless they catch you :p
