I got my DS lite finally and I'm wondering how I can get my old GB and GBC games to work on it. I heard about flash cards and passcards or something but I'm not sure which kind I should get or where should I begin?

I would imagine that it can't. I'm no expert but it has something to do with memory or a chip that is in GBA cards that is needed to run GBA games. This is how you can play GBA games on a DS that has a GBA slot. And you can play emulated GBA games on your DS cart if you buy a special GBA size cart, which runs parallel with your DS cart, that is a memory expansion to accomodate your GBA roms running on your DS.

Since the DSi does not have a gba slot anymore, I don't know how they're going to be able to get the necessary components installed to run GBA games. Unless the DSi comes with it built in, which I doubt.

Edit: Oops, I thought you said GBA.

I am fairly certain GB and GBC games will work fine. They don't need anything else but what the DS already has. As long as the homebrew emulators are compatible with DSi, which they will be made to be I'm sure.

I'm wondering what kind of card I need specifically, or which you recommend. Parts/equipement basically.

Oh what the ****.

I can not read today. I thought you said DSi too.

You do not need anything to run GB and GBC games on your DS Lite, except for a flash cart of course.

As for which one to get, I'm not really up on the latest carts, but I have the R4 and it's solid and cheap.
Though if you go shopping for one, make SURE it is the original R4, none of the "upgrade" or "SDHC" or "version 3" or "lite" or any of that bullshit.

The box/contents should look like this:

You'll need to buy a 2gb micro sd card with it. Most sites sell package deals.

To play GBA games on your DS Lite you need the EZ 3-in-1 Expansion Kit (something like that). Make sure you get the Lite version (so it fits snugly into your DS Lite)
This provides memory expansion to play GBA games and use the DS Opera browser rom, and it even has a rumble pack built in which I haven't gotten around to enabling and test out yet.

It's homebrew for the DS that lets you play GB and GBC roms.

I have a couple microSD cards, the adapters aren't the DS shape though, so I'm guessing that's what the R4 is? What's the stick on the right?

Vegeta's right, the R4 works well, and the site Veg showed me to buy it from is pretty good, although it took a little while to get here.

Which site is that? (I'm guessing they dont sell this in stores?)

Do they still make gamesharks for the DS? If so about how much are they?

Nowadays they're called Action Replay, they cost about 15-20 dollars.

Death, yeah, they don't sell them in stores, I think Vegeta showed me this Hong Kong shop or something. Ask him.

Erm.. The R4 has a cheats thing built in.

I'm not gonna link to the store here.

We're talking borderline piracy here. R4s he can talk about. Roms and stuff... no.

Who are you talking to, specifically? And who is "he"?

I don't see a problem with anything I've said in this thread.

People have been talking about roms, (and even how to get DS roms to work on the PC) in other threads and I was like "hay guys don't talk about that" but nobody cared what I had to say.

As long as I don't link to anything or provide specific instructions on how to break the law I don't see what I'm doing wrong.
