I just bought 2Gb of GeIL Ram for my pc and when I try to run it in dual channel in my mobo I get the BSoD joining and leaving games. My mobo is an old Asus P5Bw.

I just got 2GB GeIL RAM and it runs fine. Have you got the RAM in the correct slots? There should be instructions for your MB that tell you which slots they go into.

I can't seem to dig up specs on an "Asus P58w", but perhaps it doesn't support dual channel. Might want to see if you can find the specs for it somewhere.

A Google search for "P58w dual channel" yields no results.

Edit: I found a spec sheet for the "P58W-LA", which looks like a board that came with certain HP models. If this is your board, I'm not seeing any indication of dual channel support:

Whether the board supports dual channel or not should not matter regarding the BSoD. It's a board function, not a memory feature. It either can access both sticks at the same time or not. "dual channel" memory sticks are simply paired for optimum latency unlike picking 2 random sticks.

Since it is an HP I bet they don't give you options for memory settings in the bios, right? Otherwise I would try loosening the timings a bit. Maybe up the memory voltage by 1 setting. Otherwise take what you got back...and buy a different pair. Maybe they just don't work that well with the board.

Have you tried running 1 and taking the other out? Play a game or something. And then switch and try the other one.

They work individually

I'd definitely try this then.

Yeah, I think HP boards have locked bios. Should probably just get different ram.
