Dual Core Opteron S939

Price is so good. Under $300, must resist...
Full 1MB L2 cache and Opteron parts are better cores since they are workstation/server parts. OC is supposed to be better than normal Athlon 64's. :O

And did you know Dell sells AMD retail CPUs? Although not systems...yet.

hp is smart though, they sell amd in their comps. Dell would be smart to do the same

yeah the HP's with the X2's are pretty hot for a store bought PC. although with a microsoft update it tones down the dual cores power and you have to change the registry to fix it. :\

No, it's just the lowest cost Dual Core CPU from AMD and it's an Opteron on S939 (not 940). Doesn't really compare with the FX57 single core which is faster in any single desktop application today.

So this works in any Socket 939 board? If not do you have any other boards at monarch that you would recommend for that CPU?

Also benchmarks for it would be helpfull as I might be building some buisness PC's and dont have a lot of expertise in the "server CPU" area.
