Duke Nuken (is taking) Forever News

lol, any bets which engine they're using? Be cool if they were using Source.. or are they making their own engine!? or or.. hm. Be interesting to see
 
my god why are they still bothering with it? it would probably have been decent in 2001 but in 2005? they've probably switched to Source or another recent engine. but hey, the joke is on them for the next few years (they won't met 2005 i'd bet good money on it).
 
I don't know why so many people hail this like the second coming. I don't see anything interesting about the 'series', and those few pictures are about the quality of postal 2's graphics. Givin', they are probably very old (go figure), but still you have to look at that being a basis its built from.

Game's that take forever to develop are usually bad, very very bad. Game designers try to keep up with hardware advances, and the whole thing just becomes one big cash cow pie that stinks.

There's really a short window of time for creators to make a game and send it out to the public before it becomes outdated. As soon as dev's pick an engine along with other components, or make their own and use 3rd party extra's (like with hl2 and havok), the clock starts ticking. Unless in the case of making your own, which you can modify it to some extent but still even then it has a shelf life.

DNF looks like a gaming history flop.

and i thought the hl2 delay was bad. Good thing i haven't been waiting for this bad boy or i'd be growing a grey beard before i got my hands on it.

It's right up there in that list for me.

But the day the game does come out it'll be Judgement Day for 3dRealms.
After all those years, it better be damn good game, or they'll be the laughing stock of the industry.

Totally agree. I think I first got my hands on Duke3d when I was 8 or so....
 
last I heard, it was using the Unreal 1 engion...

I like planetduke.com. Their FAQ spends a lot of time trying to convince you that it's normal for a game to take this long in development.

Anyone remember Prey as well? Was that cancelled?

I meant the general franchise, not the original release. It is just a generic shooter, tell me whats so diffrent.
 
By the Time Duke Nukem Forever comes out we will have Half Life 6. Point is that once Half life 2, Farcry etc come out Duke Nukem Will be forgotten. I am really surprised it hasn't been forgoten already. To me Duke Nukem Forever= VAPORWARE

Well so far HL2 has taken 5 years... That's an awfully long time, wouldn't you say?
Although I do see your point. This game is going to have to be many many kinds of exceptional to even begin to justify the wait otherwise it's going to be an even bigger joke than Daikatana. And that's saying something.
They've been incredibly quiet, and that may well be for a reason. Perhaps they've changed things drastically. They'd better have.
But then I couldn't care less about this game.

Jesus Christ people, if you are not waiting for this game, then don’t talk about it. Why so much hate? If you don’t care, shouldn’t be you relaxed about release dates or any other news about DNF? And DN3d was a ****ing blast, beats any Doom games, Quake and other “fathers of FPS”.

There, I talked shit about Doom, am I cool now? Or do I need to do a lame joke about DNF year after year?

P.S. And it seems funny how people need to specifically state in every topic, that they in fact DON’T care about this game. In a words of azzor “get a life”.

Yes, 3dRealms right now in a big hole, Duke Nuke Forever either GOTY material or media and players will tear them apart.
 
I played Duke nukem like when i was 6 or 7 or 8 dont remember.I just remember the name i dont remember how the game was like really though i remember it was something about shooting pigs with guns.
